Liberty Cross Rail Diesel

I found a 2006 Liberty with a cross rail diesel engine that I'd like to pick up for a daily driver. Does anyone know anything about Jeep's 2.8 liter cross rail diesel engine?

No personal experience, but if you choose to search, the "C" is for common, not cross, in the CRD tag.

From what I have read it is a good engine. No other experience then that. I do believe someone on here has one and maybe they will see this.

Thanks, I knew that, just typed it wrong.

I'll look for the KJ website and see what I can find there. Not really interested in taking this thing off road, at least not anything with any degree of seriousness; I have a 1994 XJ for that, but I do love diesels and 2006 is old enough that much of the value is gone, but it's still possible to find nice low mileage vehicles.

when i worked for chrysler, i talked to quite a few people who had crd libby's as daily drivers. i can tell you that every single owner i talked to absolutely loved the jeep and would not trade it for anything. it seemed like it was developing a kind of cult following. i drove one once and i really liked it, wouldn't mind having one myself.

IIRC, there were also some rather significant transmission controller issues in regards to "hunting" for gears. Me, I'd love a small diesel to commute with.
