Dear
NAXJA
Board Members,

Effective September 17, 2024, I will be resigning as Member At Large of the Sierra Chapter of
NAXJA
.

After much reflection, I've decided to step down from my position. As of late, there has been a departure of NAXJA's goal of growing and maintaining membership, along with keeping our trails well-maintained and open. I entered into the Board with the vision of upholding this mission, however, on the last call it became clear that we are not all aligned on this. Additionally, there has been some unsettling behavior towards the members and President.

This club means a great deal to me, and the connections we have made are priceless. I feel it is best to walk away in preservation of these friendships.
I wish the board members and
NAXJA
nothing but luck going forward!

Best regards,
Justin Cordova

WHAT?! You Too? Who's going to do the awesome shirt and koozie designs that we've been having for events? This is just crazy!

Justin and fellow NAXJA members,

Recent events have obviously brought to light the struggles that the BOD has been enduring. The way that conversations have escalated to well more than friendly debates/discussions as noted above is NOT how business should be conducted, especially in a volunteer position for a hobby. Internal discussions have been had after Jon’s resignation and future discussions will be had if the behavior continues.

The desire to grow of the club has never lessened but the ideas on how to achieve this varied. With the new BOD, we had new ideas that we tried and they backfired in our face (RenoFest) and we learned from this and have attempted to improve since and have all discussed other ideas for bringing new membership on (even in our last meeting). I am unsure about the comment about “keeping trails well-maintained and open” as this hobby is all of our passion and the only way to continue is to encourage everyone to tread lightly and maintain trails to keep them open. In meetings, there were discussions to reduce the focus on quantity of raffle items and come up with a different fundraiser idea but stopping/slowing our support of the trails was never discussed as far as I am aware.

I am sorry to be losing another BOD member; Justin your assistance, insight, and input will be missed.
