Leaf spring hitting frame

Front direct experience with the RE 4.5 leafs... they will settle to 4.5 or 4 after time, so don't remove a leaf now if they're still new and making your rig sit too tall. It took a couple wheeling trips on mine to get everything settled to 4.5... they sat about 6" or so over stock when I first installed them.

Thanks! This will be the first official wheeling trip starting Friday.

The leaf smacks the frame? There is no frame.

You mean the shackle moves rearward under a load and makes contact with the unibody?
Do you have 600lbs of shit in your Jeep? If so, They're not made to haul that much weight.

my jeep is rated for 1000lbs ;)

this happens with longer springs regardless of shackle.

the only way around it is to get relocation brackets.

you could get away with almost no extra lift if you used a set of HD offroad shackle relocation boxes and set your shackle angle back to 45*.

Its an issue of the springs being too long with the stock shackle, not an issue of how much weight he carries. I've had 600+ lbs in the back of my rig plenty of times, its fine when the suspension is setup correctly.

IT'S THE ONLY WAY ...
C'mon people, there's ALWAYS more than ONE way around a problem:

The only way to keep the shackle is to buy a different shackle? I really like the idea of the leaf spring slider, as it would keep from dropping the rig on the shackles on ledges.

you just end up hitting the slider instead.

So I installed the boomerang shackles, and it fixed my problem for now.

They added 2" of lift, above the original ride height. Dang.

The jeep is so loaded down though, it's crazy. 300 pounds in steel targets, 160 pounds ammo, 70 pounds in guns, Beer, camping gear, no food(I hunt for protein) 30 pounds water jugs, 100 pounds concrete bags, one passenger, etc.

So this will work for traveling, but at camp, this jeep is going to look retarded. New saggy RE 4.5" coils with 2" spacers. New 4.5 " RE leafs that are actually 6" lift, 2" lift boomerang shackles.
32" tires.
Pics to come with a trip report.
