Last week on the Rubicon, I found out that Jes...

... likes to collect fine stones and rocks and such. I also found out he was lazy. He came to this spot in the trail where he thought he saw a nice vein of Quartz down in the Granite rock, however he was too lazy to get out and look, so he just maneuvered his rig so he didn't have to get out.

So how did that quartz look anyway Jes.

:D

Doesn't look like "Tread Lightly" to me! We are looking at losing trails in Arizona because of people who can't seem to stay on established trails. Hope the Greenies don't see this pic.

Whoozey, I hate to say this, but you don't what the fawk you are talking about.

That IS the trail, and has been for about 35 years. It's an optical illusion created by the position of the camera and the position of Jes. The trail makes a left turn right there and you go around that bush.

I appreciate what your concern, but Sierra Chapter folks know all too well about trail closures and the close scrutiny of greenies. We don't leave established trails.

WTF, according to that sign you folks couldn't shoot Jes to put him out of his misery :D

Looks to me like he's just having ol boy check his u bolts for tightness.

It actually says "No Shooting in campground area", but that is pretty funny!

CRASH

You mean he didn't drive outta that  Well, I guess the east is going to win at Moab.

It's a contest from the standpoint of appearing to be a competition......but really......as we all know........ there is no comparison. ;)

CRASH

My Bad, Crash. From the look and angle it looked like he was wildcattin'.

The sign should say "NO SHOOTING! except Greenie Granola Tree-huggin liberal mofos!" Just make sure you bury them like you would your campground crap.

Jes, Jes, Jes. Now if everyone picked up rocks on the trail, what rocks would we have left to drive on? Now I can understand that if you're in a "No Shooting" zone, and Andy starts in with long arms, John Galt, or some other nonsense, then you may need to pick up a few rocks to chuck in his direction. But that's no excuse to go out stealing or abusing rocks as you seem to be in this picture. Have fun, but please be nice to the rocks.

I didn't know Moab was going to be a 'contest'. Or is this something the eastern guys thought up in attempt to boost their confidence despite their inferior trails?

J/K :)

The east guys had to challenge us west guys to a competition because we go wheeling and they don't even show up!!

We drive all the way to CO to wheel some hard trails, and have to wheel them by ourselves.........

So, out of a justifiably guilty conscience, they came up with the idea of having a competition in Moab, in an attempt to draw attention away from them not being able to show up to wheel some hard trails. The CO guys who didn't show up are also trying to spread the embarrasment further east by making it an east vs west contest.......or they may just doubt that they have enough real drivers in the state to successfully challenge the CA boys, and so need the help of their eastern friends. :D :D

Stir...stir...stir..... ;)

I see :D

I think you just used a power blender to stir it up there :D

Well, I will be there in Moab, but I'm not going to be doing anything that involves any sort of competition. I am going to be competing with myself over my fear of heights I imagine anyway.

Dave,

Going down the slabs between LIttle Sluice and Buck Island Lake wasn't TOO bad, was it?

It feels a bit tippy when you are headed down, but it's all a headgame.

Was that right before we dinked around with my ARB Compressor? I'm not sure if I know exactly where that was. I thought 'the slabs' was that flat, long portion toward the beginning of the trail.

Anyway, looking back on it, naw, it wasn't that bad. Removing my revolvers, keeping my XJ somewhat low, and running my wide rims helped me keep a good mindset, and as you said, that's all it is.

I HATE going down though, would much rather go up. :D

Hey, I thought I saw something shiny there, give me a break! :D
And Sean, I did drive out of that, albeit in reverse. Had I not cared about keeping my rig bling bling I would have kept going forward. ;)

Cool pics Dave! Gotta get the vids up.

Jes

Yup, it was the section right after we messed with the ARB.
