Laptop unable to get on....???

I was trying to get on through the laptop on the desk next to me but it gets a DNS. I tried to ping and tracert but get nothing. Any sugestions?

A DNS what? DNS seems to be working for me, both through the office and down here in Atlanta. If the laptop is using DHCP, it should be getting the DNS addresses through that, and not hardcoded.

Does Not find Server. Like I said this one next to it on the same connection get here fine but my laptop quit working for only. Neither Mozilla nore IE can find the server and the ping fails too. Just looking for sugestions on what to check or try. Removed cookies and files before I ever posted too.

No I have several other computers on the same router and my windows firewall is off. Mozilla cannot find it either. Seems to be laptop specific. I remember people having issues in the recent past. Was wondering if the admin had any sugestions of things to test or look for.

I had this happen to me awhile ago.

I am a computer un-knowitall so doing what I do best I turned it off and back on.

Worked for me...don't know what I did though.

Yea I tried that a few times already. I'm wondering if its just a fluke with the laptop. I hope I can get it straight before too long.

Issue fixed, ty Geoff, DNS server was changed to an ip instead of on auto.
