Knucklehead's blog

have fun in jungle town. don't forget to wear your bulletproof vest! :gee:
i'll be in the shop by 8:00 & i think guys will start filtering in between 10 & 12.
i'll have the shop open from 8:00 am till at least 9:00 pm.

Sounds good. The address that you have at the begining of this post, is it correct for your shop.

the meet & greet at my shop turned out great. met some new people & saw some old friends. nice to put faces to the screen names. we got a lot of food eaten, beer drank, gears swapped, & a d44 trussed. good times!

i spent today building a new front cross member that has mounts for the 3 link and tranny mount. i am using a chevy style urethane tranny mount upside down to save space since the xj mounts are so tall. i got the bottom of the cross member flush with the bottom of the frame rails & the tranny mount & 3 link mounts are all mounted above the bottom. i should be able to have a nearly flat belly pan except for a small dimple for the corner of the atlas. i'll finish cleaning it & squirt it with paint tomorrow.

nice xmember.. pics of the chevy mount... I want to hear more.

you can just see it in front of the atlas mounted on a thin aluminum pattern.
i'll fab up a real adapter plate tomorrow from 1/4" stock.

That cross member has really turned out nice. I can't wait to see this rig on the trails. Those Pittbulls should be great out there too. But I don't think I want to try to follow you with my meesly 35 inchers that I have.

Dam anytime i see someone bring out the chain i just stand back and watch but when the strap comes out Ill throw rocks stand on the up hill side of the rig to keep it from flopping, just as long as i think the driver wont run me over.

You're going to hard mount the transmission to a solid crossmember?

Or are you going to throw some rubber/poly into the mount?

:dunno:

i may be dumb, but i'm not stoopid.

i am using an upside down chevy urethane mount.

I see it now. At first glance it looked like a "]" shaped bracket.

Crossmember looks killer!

some spy photos of my progress:
got the rear cross member mounted & lower links done. currently working on the upper link mounts, they are about 1/3 of the way done & i finally figured out the calculations.

Tim! That is lookin so sweet.

I got home from KOH last night at 1:30 so we were able to pick up my new truck today.
2012 dodge ram 2500 cummins, 6 sp. auto, laramie, leather, buckets, heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, etc. etc. i think i am going to really enjoy my new truck!
they had to bring it in from pahrump, nevada since i had to have the deep cherry red color & that was the closest one the dealer could find with the options i wanted.

Wow! Nice truck Tim. I was looking at the 2010's awhile back. I really like the interiors on the Rams. Too bad my boss (wife) vetoed the idea before I could get the truck.
