Kmc utv wheels

So I messed up, bought some wheels not knowing they were for a utv. They have a 1000lb max load rating, I’m guessing not but would it be possible to run these on my xj?? I got em for a good deal but still don’t wanna completely lose the money I spent on them. This is definitely a dumb question but let me know what y’all think!!

Sounds like you already know the answer to your question. Only bad things can come from running these on your XJ and having a wheel fail. Just resell them to a UTV owner and find some new wheels that are rated for your XJ.

The load rating of a wheel, as determined by the wheel manufacturer, must never be exceeded. Manufacturers identify a wheel’s maximum load rating and tire diameter by checking the back of the wheel or with the wheel manufacturer. If the load rating is not available the wheel should not be used on the vehicle. Wheel load rating requirements are determined by dividing the vehicles heaviest gross axle weight rating by 2. The axle weight rating for most vehicles is shown on the identification label located on the driver’s side door jamb, gas tank door, truck lid or glove compartment.

Looking at the Mfg Load Rating on 2000 XJ, the door decal shows 2500lb front axle weight, 2700 rear axle weight.....so you take the heavier of the two and divide by 2. 2700lbs / 2 = 1,350lb is your wheel load rating. And this rating is for a stock rig, so if you've added the weight of HD suspension components, armor, hd bumpers, trail gear, recovery gear, larger tires, etc, then the wheel rating needs to increase to compensate for the additional rig weight.
