Kendall motor oil?

Went to one of my buddies houses here in GP and he told me that he had a bunch of new-old stock Kendall oil that would be good for my 4.0. Can anyone verify this ? $5 bucks a quart isn't bad if its something my motor will like. He said its pre 2000 for sure. Im still breaking in my engine and was either going to switch to this or Valvoline vr-1 after 3000 miles

Does it have a higher zddp level than normal gas engine oil? If not, I'd be looking in to Diesel engine oils. You mention breaking in a engine, you will most definitely need something with that higher zinc.
