Going to be in Kansas City Kansas for a couple months after the holidays. Going out there for work.

I'm going to be living in Shawnee and commuting up to Lenexa.

So far I've been seeing some awesome beater cars on craigslist, should be a great opportunity to find a somewhat reliable car that is very good at burning gas. Is it going to suck to buy, register, insure, and sell a car?

What is must-see out there?

Don't think I'll be able to get to Winterfest.

What's the point of being anywhere near the midwest in winter then? :D

If you do any auto license/registering while out here stay away from the Johnson County area due to higher taxes I am told....We are trying to get a little (or big) M&G put together after the holidays, so this would be a good time to meet up and hang with some of the KC area guys of the chapter. There is so much to see or do in the KC area you just have to let us know what your interests are and we can set you in the right direction.

$$$ :D

A meet and greet could be fun, maybe see from there how much time I want to spend with you guys! I do hear there is a pretty good downtown night life.

We spent $522 to renew the registration on our '09 Ram this year, I can't imagine the fees will be bad on a clapped out beater from the 80s. :confused1

Sweet Jeebus Phil!

I'm not exactly sure about those fools down south, but I know it won't be anything crazy like California. FWIW it costs $60 to register a vehicle in OH, I'd expect something similar down there.

If for some reason you in the Columbus/Cleveland/Akron area let me know and I have a room you can stay in. Shit, I might even buy you dinner.

Should be painless to register a rig, if it comes with a KS title. I have left my Jeep registered outside of Johnson County... I am afraid of the taxes. However, if you surrender the tags before you leave, you will get a refund for some of the registration fee.

I live in Overland Park, KS (Shawnee/Mission/Lenexa/Overland Park/Olathe are essentially the same place).

Must see? I don't know, its a city....with good food. Great BBQ.

.
Cost me $43 a year to plate my jeep.

Never been to KC but I know we have a few members in that area. You should try to make WF but I understand the money situation.

I'm flying in to KC tomorrow for like a 20 hour visit and I think I'm going to freeze my nuts off!

January 3rd is my travel date then they're buying me a flight home every other weekend.

Looking forward to it, it should be fun.

Winterfest

mac 'nuff said' gyvr

When are you getting in town and how long you going to be here? If your here at the end of Feburary, Ks Rocks puts on Frostbite. I don't think it's Winterfest but it's still a good time in the cold. I know you wont have your rig with you but I'm sure I could find a passenger seat in an xj for the day.

Travelling out there on the 3rd of January and I just let on to the wife the other day that it's going to be about five months. When is barbecue season? Or is that all year?

That's year round. If your staying in Shawnee look up Bates City BBQ. It's at Shawnee Mission Parkway and Quivira. Or Zarda's on 87th and Quivira. Or Oklahoma Joes at 119th and Strangline. Or The BBQ Shack in Paola. Or K&M in Springhill. Or... Or... Or... Or.... We could probably take you to a different BBQ place everynight for 5 months and still not hit all of them. I just mentioned a few on the KS side theres still a ton on the MO side of the state line. Give me some heads up and we'll take a trip out to Springhill. Not the best of the mentioned but damn good and very reasonable prices.

Gardner has a good BBQ joint also and the original Okahoma Joes is fun to see and good eats. KC Master peice is here too and worth going to, but not the best in the area.

You could go to a different BBQ place twice a week for the 5 months you are going to be here and never hit the same place twice.
