Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

Hang on... I just gotta admire the Clayton greatness

I donno if you can really see it in this pic but the top right corner of the pic, the bushings actually have a leaf coil around it like a guard. Never seen any leafs like that. I know my REs dont have that.

Damn its gonna be awesome.

Thats called a "military wrap".... all the cool kids run them now:laugh:

That one has a flat on top too, it will clear the spring pocket well then. Most times you have to bash the floor up out of the way to clear the military wrap in the front spring pocket.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

measured the coils... 22" !? the 3.5 one the jeep (with the weight on them) are around 16 + or -

sweet!!! gonna be sick!

if theyre too tall for ya ill take em off your hands :eyes:

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

I will probably be getting those shackle relocation brackets when I get time / $

Actually, you may need a boomerang shackle (like what JKS makes) once the rear leafs settle. You'll have to see if your existing shackle bumps the rear spring pocket or not after they settle a bit.

andy, good to meet ya, gotta get out in the woods asap! its funny that you were one of mac's students, you may have to come in as a speaker to share your experiences as a jeeper

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

eh... dont really like boomerangs.

If these dont suit I can easily resell em.

http://www.hdoffroadengineering.com/collections/frontpage/products/xj-shackle-relocation-kit

Its just a basic lift shackle with a little bend in it. This is what I am talking about...
http://store.jksmfg.com/merchant2/m...ES&Store_Code=JKS01&Category_Code=Leaf_Spring

Just allows the leaf springs to push the shackles back further without having the shackle hit the rear frame. I looked at the shackle relocation brackets with my most recent rebuild, but didn't want to deal with the amount of lift they were going to give me, as well as the driveline issues, so I run this shackle and get PLENTY of flex with no binding.

Here is a shameless pic of my junk flexing...

Good to meet you too Cody. Does Mr Mac still have his HUGE foam cowboy hat? That was a fun class, always something interesting to tinker with.

he doesn't break it out anymore but im sure its somewhere... even without a shop we ended up with two motorcycles in class and countless small engines

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

Isnt there a JY shackle that has that same shape? I'm thinking I saw one. Maybe the Chevy Truck Shackle?

When I thought boomerang, I was thinking the revolver... Just looked on ebay I can get the JKS for under 100 shipped.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

nice... but not for me :) I'll keep my full doors
Thats what my wife said... :eyes:
Untill she rode in the jeep without doors.
Then she was happy to see the half doors.
The A/C broke a long time ago, and this rolling brick just doesn't have airflow, especially the pre-97 with fixed wing windows in the front. so i took the doors off to get airflow and loved it.
Half doors just made sense after that.

I still have the full doors, and use them if its going to rain, or if its a long trip. The original doors had some rust on them so i replaced them before I painted the Jeep, so the old ones were perfect for cutting.

Im gunna get half doors! :worship:
Sazall and 50 - 75$ at shorty's and some welding skills and they are easy as 1,2,...99, ok so not really easy, but the pay off is great. I can't wait till i get some time to finish all the lateches and everything.
I have actuators to open it with a puch button. its like "shaved"
I'll show you some time if we ever meet up.

SWEET half doors!!! maybe i should go that route instead of tube doors :eyes: :dunno:
Its a matter of preference,
tube doors are easier, but I like the look of half doors better.

I smell BEEF? what the heck is so BEEFY around here?>

aww yeah...

oh wait, lets see a size comparison to a Sawzall... jeeeez looks alot bigger than my 3.5s wonder if they sent me 6.5 just to humor me.

mmmm... something tells me the 35s are gonna look NICE under there. 4.5s??
