few questions about these.. i ordered a set a few weeks ago and when they came to my door i noticed they looked crooked

now im told by some that these slanted ones are for only YJs.. and some tell me they are for XJs too. just curious if i have the right ones or not? dont have my jeep right now so i cant check myself.

i also ordered the ones without the conical spacers by mistake. these little spacers in the pic below

are these important to be running a racing shock? ive tried to get them through JKS directly but they want about 35 bucks for 4 spacers and shipping, trying to avoid that. would it be a problem if i just stuffed a few normal flat spacers in instead? or does anyone know anywhere else i could find them?

im running into to many issues with exchanging these for the ones i need so thats pretty much out of the question also.

the crooked ones are listed for yj's... im positive that the misalignment capacity of the heim of a racing shock can take care of it..... however, you do have the wrong mounts.

misalignment spacers allow more misalignment, if you run washers, the washer will contact the other part of the heim thingy... preventing misalignment... it'll bind.

racing shocks are not for everyone.... i thought i was paying too much at $5/per though... those 'conical' spacers you posted are even less machined then the higher end stuff...

fox makes a 2.0 series shock that bolts into stock configurations for an xj... it might be a better option if you havent bought them yet. i severly dislike the idea of those 'adapters', you lose travel, and they dont spread shock loads out very much.

Agreed. On both counts, Fox makes a nice kit, it's listed for a TJ but works great on an XJ. I believe the front is just shy of 12" which worked well on my XJ. They also sell an adjustable.

If you're going to run a heim'd shock up front and must run an adapter, spend the bit extra and run the T&J style front shock mount. It spreads the load out quite a bit nicer than this style mount.

I was thinking the spacer idea would make them bind after I posted.

Someone actually sent me a link to some poly bushing replacments for fox shocks so I'm just going to run those instead. It will make everything a lot easier and cheaper.

I spoke to jks customer service and they told me I have the right mounts. Someone else just told me I have the right mounts and I looked at my jeep today and it looks like that area has a slant also.

I'm not to worried about spreading the load. I'm not racing I just want my jeep to handle better at speed. Plus t&j prices are a joke.

i couldnt possibly agree more on t&j's prices.... especially for what it is... (3 peices of metal WELDED together to form a U-shapped channel, not bent on a brake... nothing fancy...

ive heard of people retrofitting the bilsteins, but hadnt heard anything about foxes... if you get it to work, please post up pics for others!

the $5 hi/mi spacers were from kartek, IM PRETTY SURE.... could be mistaken, its been a while. however, those were for a 2.5" shock, so make sure they'll fit... as i said, they step down the bolt size from the heim bore, unlike those jks's.

i was the one who passed the info along to him about the bushings (if thats what youre referencing)

ive had them in my Foxes since february with a lot of mileage and use and have had no problems. definitely prefer them in my XJ versus the original heim setup.

theres a couple options on the page:

You paid $55 for a piece of bent metal with a bolt stuck through it. :D

Correct, something in which you or I could build. So build them... I know I didn't, it's not worth my time to engineer them and get them right, when I know someone else already has. I agree with you, in that most people like your or I, think most "builder parts" or fabbed shit is way overpriced, but that's because we know what material costs. You don't factor in the price of paying a full staff, running a business, etc. XJ guys are just cheap bastards, because they're used to buying relatively shoddy garage built parts from some "fabber". I'm not knocking garage fabbers, more power to them, but MOST of the stuff fabbed is copied from someone else's original design.

Actually they were $45.99 on a gift card I got for free from a friend. :moon:

I got the slanted ones originally, but found out they were wrong from numerous people here as well as from JKS themselves. Sent them back and got the right ones, and they came with high misalignment spacers to boot. I plan on buying some T&J mounts to replace them with at some point.
