Jeepspeed Miniature

Some of the work these people do on these cars is amazing, I can barely glue two popsicle sticks together. LOL

Heres the start of the rc XJ 1400 Ive been working on during my free time when I got nothing else to do. But since i got the week off I pulled it down off the shelf, I'm gonna try and get the chassis done up this week. Yes Im aware it has a big wing, Yes Im aware it makes it look stupid and yes I am taking it off, just havent got around to it just yet

oh, might I add, I got a little secret for powering this operation, and no, its not a brushless for the people that know much about RC's

Hey Baja, Who makes that body?

I ordered my proline sunday I am hoping it gets here by friday.

Dude that is sick! Totally reminds me of the old Cherokee Trophy Truck.

Thanks for the interest! That should keep me motivated to do the build. The body is made by andys, it was made back in the late 80s, early 90s and then they stopped producing it. The company still exists and they still have stock of the body, just not enough to list it anywhere, if you want one you have to call Andys directly and request one. Its only 14 bucks if I remember.

as for power, here it is:

its a 1/16 nitro, it wont add to much weight, should be more than enough power, and will be able to be easily contained inside the body

Haha I always hated the TRX 2.5, and 3.3. They were fast, but un reliable.

I ran a few HPI, and axial motors, they were way less finicky. The traxxas motors hated temp changes. I spent more time tuning than driving!

Got some progess today. Got the main chassis done, as well as the engine mounted to it, and some cage work done. I know, I know, the way I mounted the engine is kind of a cheater way but hey, it works, at least until I make sure that this little nitro is the route Im for sure going with which I wont know until its done and I get to test it out. But I had the car it came off of running today and it runs pretty strong for its size, guess we will see later if its powerful enough or not. Heres some pix from whats done so far

This is a good example of why I chose this engine, it tucks in the body rather nicely, and its lightweight, oh and I had it laying in the corner not being used.

Not the tires or the wheels Im using, just what I had that was the same diameter as what the end truck will be running. These are 3.74x2, what I am going to run are 3.74x1.3 BFG Mud Terrains, which amazing scaled the same as everything else Im doing to the truck scales to obviously 37.4" and will be on 1.5 wheel that scales to a 15.

The joints will look alot better than the ones in these pix, Im not good enough yet to silver solder the whole thing so I MIG the main structure and then go the detail work with silver solder, the ones I MIG are for strength and wont be seen anyway, The end product will look wayyy better

Correction on who makes the body, its not andys, its Mccallister, but Rockwerks makes a reproduction of it, but both places have it in stock

Dude, Let me know when you get it done. That will give me a reason to come and drive it! :D

I got my proline yesterday, this is my first time painting one of these anyone have any pointers?
