Josh and I were in the car when it happened and we are both OK. That is actually ATF from an exploded transmission. It all came up through the hood vents and totally plastered us. And that is about an hour after it happened. Catastrophic failure, with fire. Not the first time that I have been in a burning race car, but it was the first time in a burning race car while covered in ATF. And no that fluid isn't burnt - max trans temp we saw was about 190 - the dark color is from the high metallic and particulate content of the oil.

We had an awesome time chasing you down on that 3rd lap. We never lost sight of you after you got around us at the start of the lap. We'd reel you in, then you'd pull away, we'd reel you in, then you'd pull away. We finally get you and then take out a front wheel on a rock. When you passed when we were changing the tire Josh said "dammit, we gotta do that all again". That was some good racing there.
