jeep died

my dad's 97xj dies sometimes after he drives for a while then stops somewhere for like 5 or 10 minutes and restarts it. my 2000 did the same thing 2 times. after it dies it starts right back up. what's that all about? ps didn't know how to search for that so any help is appreciated

Sounds like it could be a bad Crank Position Sensor...

call me stupid but what/where is a/the Crank Position Sensor? thanks oh and replacing the o2 sensor was totally the gas mileage problem. gas prices don't seem to be as bad when i get to drive much further for the same amount.

the cps in on the bell housing at the 11 o'clock position looking from the rear to the front of the jeep. :twak:
