It happened again!

My heat went out AGAIN!

I've narrowed the issue down to one of the ignitors. Two of them start zapping and the third one is just silent. I need to see how to troubleshoot this and if I can buy the ignitor on my own.

argh.

OK WTF are you talking about. If you are talking about your furnace at home, then state so. Also give the brand and model.

Sorry.

I didn't take a very close look the first time and assumed there were 3 ignitors.

The ignitior is on the far left burner and the far right burner wasn't igniting. The bleedover from burner 1 to burner 2 was happening, but it wasn't happening from burner 2 to burner 3.

I tapped on the space between burner 2 and 3 and then it bled over and lit up burner 3. Must have been some corrosion or something built up in that space.

A common problem is that spiders build nests in there during the summer when the furnace isn't being used. Compressed air works wonders.

is it really that cold in Tenn already? Jebus-- it was almost 90* here yesterday.....

that reminds me, I'd better check the heat before it gets cold enough to use it.

You need an HVAC guy, give me a call. I'll get you a name and number. Ours is excellent. Has his own company. We've been using him since around '04.

Yes, it's that time of year we'd like the temps to stay above 50* in our house at night :D

old_man, thanks for the advice. That's exactly the same advice I've gotten from another person. Glad it was an easy fix this time. Last time, it wasn't!

Dirk, can you send me his info in a PM? Probably wouldn't hurt to get the unit serviced before the cold really sets in.
