i normally use dslreports.com to periodically test my speeds. Is there a better/more accurate way to test my line speeds? B/c I think I am gettign royally arse raped.....

For cable you are looking at anywhere from 500kbps to 2mbps down and probobly 250kbps to 500kbps up.

My Fios gives me 15mbps down and 10mbps up. :compwork:

Im pulling close to 3mb down and 367 up. But I started this thread b/c I think I'm paying for 6mb down.

You're wrong youself. Or more... It's not like it's simple.

Most advertised DSL is the speed I mentioned. DSL is heavily reliant on location but you can still get the advertised speed in most cases. If you are closer you will get a faster speed usually.

Nothing, my daughter pulls cable and does punch downs faster than anyone I ever saw, once she gets going she sounds like a roofer with a nail gun.... timed her once, 2:12 for a 24 port panel....that was after she layed out the wires of course...
She's pretty good at OS Installs too and is a super neatnick when running wires while building systems.. I almost hate replacing components on systems she has built, the cables are so neat and tight I can never get them like that..

i did the speed test and i got completely different results from different places. from SF i got 6mb down and 3 up. from LA i got 15mb down and 3 up. from seattle i got 2 down and 1 up. why do the numbers vary so greatly? and why do i get 15 down but only 3 up? i then tested it again from LA and i got 11 down and almost 5 up
