Attempting to install a Pantech (Sprint) Wireless broadband card onto my grandmotheres 3 month old Gateway thinkpad laptop.

When I go to install the software, before the Install shield can even start, it says :

"1: The InstallScript engine is missing from this machine. If available, please run ISScript.msi, or contact your support personnel for further assistance"

So, of course, I googled it, and get this:

http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108158

So i follow the steps to remove what they say... check file version of file I wish to install, which is 1.0.0 ......

Install Ikernel update, per that site... and still no dice!!

So I go to gateway support, and attempt to d/l + install chipset update... when I try to install it, even tho it's all there, AND extracted, it says Cannot Locate Source or Path, or some error of the like....

WTF DO I DO!?! tech support sucks... both sprint n gateway... and no one can help

If you have extracted this msi from a setup.exe, then there should be isscript.msi present with the program msi. If not, then run your msi with L*v command line parameter to find out the version of IsScript missing:

msiexec /i yourmsi.msi /l*v C:\Temp\MyMSILog.log

Search inside the log file for property "ISSCRIPT_ENGINE_VERSION" and download it from Macrovision website.
