Is This Exhaust Flange Gasket Installed Correctly?

I recently replaced my 97 4.0 XJs exhaust manifold with this kit: https://www.autozone.com/emission-c...ust-manifold-674-196/274821_0_0#bv_PDPReviews

I got the flange gasket on, but even after railing on the bolts with the big impact there's a good amount of visible between the manifold and the collector pipe. Does this look alright?

yup, the flanges don't touch.

Hmmm.. Hard to tell from your pic but maybe the gasket's in backwards. The flat side goes against the manifold and the "tapered" end slides slightly into the downpipe.

However, if it's not leaking, leave it alone. Maybe snug up the bolts after a few heat/cold cycles.

The tapered side is towards the downpipe so I should be good. Thanks!
