Is this a good deal on an AR15?

Everyone thinks they're a sniper. It's not Call of Duty. Most engagements are fought well within 200 yds.

I certainly don't think I would be assessing someone at 200 yards to be a threat or not ha. If I somehow feel they are a threat, I have a 200 yard head start on them to get away. Unless of course they are zombies in which case they are a slow moving threat and my aim isn't as important, I would pull up a chair.

Prairie dogs are most defiantly a threat at 200 yards hence the need for sub-moa guns (those suckers are small at 200 yards)

Quick little suckers too I would love to see someone picking them off at 200 yards, I don't have that skill for sure.

It's even more fun at 400 yds and a spotter. As long as you can afford the ammo. 30 rounds mags throwing lead (and polymer tipped copper) out of a .308 gets a little costly...even handloading.

If you're my brother, you might not even hit him at 100 yds, considering he's about 7 inches wide. But a normal human is plenty wide enough to hit him inside a 16 inch circle.

:roflmao:

Heh... I don't own a rifle that shoots anything larger than an inch and a half at 100 yards. Well....maybe a .22 or....five but no high powered stuff.
Um,...
1: Isn't an AR-15 a .22?
2: 5.56x45 and 7.62x39 are by NO stretch "high-powered" in ANYBODY'S book.

Who cares what the rifle can do off a bench. Let's hear what YOU can do, from a field position, under time pressure: say, 4 seconds to assume a position and get off the first shot, and a single followup as fast as you can after that? (I can print 2 on a small paper plate most days.)

By the way, I agree, "guns" should not be allowed in civilian hands.
(In the military, "guns" are those big mothers on self propelled chassis, and mounted in turrets on ships. Nobody needs a 155mm, self propelled or towed, for any legitimate purpose. Same with the 105mm, and even the obsolete 75mm. The stuff the Navy uses is just plain ridiculous.
"Small arms" on the other hand, should be encouraged. )

Some of us more so than others :shhh:

I'm never one to actually take my time at the range and concentrate on making the groups smaller with my AK. I'm happy I built it and it functions well. If I was shooting better ammunition with a rear sight conversion it would probably shoot 4 MOA. But that defeats the purpose of having a rifle that shoots cheap ass ammunition for fun.

And for the record, I don't even think knives should be legal. Imagine how wonderful the world would be without weapons of opportunity.

So looking for something better than 8 MOA means I'm a mall ninja COD hedshotz sniper? Ok. Sure.

I spent the least amount of money possible on my 1:9" 16" barreled M4gery, and I get sub-2MOA with 55gr BTHP .223 and a 4MOA red dot. I should go put on my ninjasniperpirate suit, too. :farmer:

He left out the the heavy hitters like the 45 Beowulf, and there's even a 50BMG upper if you're feeling really inadequate in the wedding tackle department, then there's always the 9mm "SMG" upper if you like,..
But most people hear "AR-15" and think ".223".

Just because people think .223 when they hear ar15 doesn't really mean anything. You clearly asked
1: Isn't an AR-15 a .22?
and I responded. I am not sure how you asking if an ar15 is a .22 has anything to do with other people assuming all ar15s are .22.

My AR is a 556 and my pistol a 9mm so I am not a big caliber kinda guy.

For the record. I was talking about a rimfire .22 LR.

As far as doubting my shooting ability.... All I can say is lets go shooting.

I've been hunting since I could walk, I have two brothers who are tactical firearms instructors for a local police department. I've grown up shooting and while I'm not going to sit here and brag about how great I am...I will say that I'm pretty comfortable in saying that I can shoot better than most under any kind of situation with almost any kind of weapon.

Psh, i'd outshoot you with my slingshot! :D I'm no marksman by any stretch but I'm handy enough with a gun to kill some dinner!

Yeah, I know. ;) Amazing how feathers get ruffled at that comment('Not talking about you,.) I grew up around a 30-06, and probably spent too much time reading Cooper in the '80s and '90s, hence, the term "poodle-shooter" is stuck in my vocabulary.

I'll treat this as an open invitation. Next time I'm headed up north, I'll get in touch with you. Always fun to meet a fellow jeeper/shotist. However, based on your response, I'm going to guess you can shoot. (Didn't seem to be a lot of ego in there.)

While I posted my comment in a response to your quote, 'no direct insult intended. "What can you do in the field?" is pretty much my response to anybody who starts in on the "X.Xmoa" discussion. :peace:

My main form of shooting entertainment is hunting prairie dogs. Having a very accurate rifle is a must.

I wasn't offended by your comment either.

I want to shoot prairie dogs. Gonna have to shoot coyotes though!

My main form of shooting entertainment is pieces of paper. Sometimes it's fun to have a gun that just goes bang as fast as you can pull the trigger, when you can afford it.

When I was shopping for an AR, I decided to spend that $600 on a Garand. Costs more to shoot, but for me the history is more fun than owning the same rifle I get issued at work.

But I know not everyone has a job that comes with a gun.

I like shooting reactive targets and knock downs more than anything else. Hearing the "TING" and watching somehting fall down just puts a smile on my face.

I got one of those Prarie Dog targets too, the ones that spin when you hit them. Man, hit it with a .22lr and it swings back and forth and is real fun. Shoot it with my AR and it barely moves. I need to move it out to 200yds next time. I have been shooting it at 100.
