Is it wrong to rent a car at enterprise for a discount military rate, then take it to an SCCA Rallycross and thrash it in a probably unsuccessful attempt at fleeting glory, then assuming nothing too bad has happend return it for the next unsuspecting victim? Keep in mind this is a national rallycross circuit event.

Yes.

But certainly fun! :D

If you're gonna do it, go Hertz, get the Mustang GT-H or whatever it is....

Where can you rent a WRX?????

From a moral standpoint it certainly is "wrong". However My friend rented an impala a couple of years back and rallied the crap out of it on Portland International Raceway. Including a number of high speed ebrake skids on the back straight. By the time he was finished with it, the poor thing had the CVs clicking on turns and all sorts of thumps and squeaks.

Then there's the time he rented a full size dodge and took it up to Tillamook forest. Not as much carnage, but I sure wouldn't have wanted to be the one to clean it up :D

my first experience wheelin was in a rented 04 WJ Laredo 4x4.....ahhh good times. Thing had a hell of a pull to the left by the time I was done with it

I say go for it....just if you break it your beyond screwed. But if you dont man i'll bet that would be a hell of alot of fun. And I agree...if ya can find a suby rent that!

The extra insurance is $15 per day....

The car will probably be a dodge neon or chevy cobalt. Both cars I have raced in rallycrosses. Believe it or not I have done as well as 2nd of 45 cars in my buddy's production class pontiac sunfire and have about a dozen class victories between my old neon and my buddy's sunfire.

I think it'll happen. We'll see

Rental: $65
Insurance: $45
Entry Fees: ~$40
Gas and Food: ~$50

total will be about 200 bucks... we'll see

I worked for Enterprise for a while and we'd get a beat car in every once in a while. know what happened??

nothing. It's no big deal...they barely even notice, and if they do...they really dont care that much. they rented you a car and you used it. that one car is so insignificant to the amount of money some of these rental car corporations bring in...

i say do it.

Do it twice more, and then teach your children to do it.

I've seen it done, but at a local event.
It was quite amusing to the rest of us! The "renters" made it known that it was a rental and we had fun watching them play.

Unless it's a high performance car, i'm not sure WTF you'd bother. There isn't a single vehicle i've rented from Enterprise using my military discount that is worth thrashing.

Edit: Beating the average rental car for the sole purpose of impressing some kids is fawking stupid. Keesler AFB...you in tech school or an instructor?

Read the fine print in your contract. You could end up buying the car at retail. Also, most events make you show title and registration and don't allow rentals.

Almost like taking a rental car back with no rear brakes left... Wouldnt know anything about going about 30 or so MPH then locking up the rear with then emergency brakes, over and over... Nope wouldnt know anything about that at all.

This thread reminds me of a past fall fling... Hagens rented wrangler in Moab parked next to cabin 1 at slickrock with the hood up and some attention being directed towards one of the bumpers...

NOTHING performs like a rental!!:wierd:
