For those who run these IRO rear units, how much shock length do you give up? Appears by the way they recess into the stock mount indent, only .5 to .75 of an inch?
not the first time a manufacturer saved money by skimping on hardware, a lot of times I have to trim the right bolts down to get the RIGHT shank length(as opposed to using a bolt that is the right overall length but has threads that are in shear.), I like the shank to go all the way through both mounts and use a washer to assure you can still torque them down. I am a stickler for details. Don't mind me
oh, and also FWIW, i was wrong about mine being grade 8, My IRO kit came with class 10.9 bolts, which I believe is only very very very marginally weaker than an 8... nonetheless... mine broke
Wow, this thread has sprung back to life. So I've had a set of the rears sitting in my garage since late September when I last posted. They make them yellow zinc plated now as opposed to the black shown in the pictures. I haven't mounted them up yet as I was waiting to do RuffStuff axle end shock mounts and some 7100's at the same time. Sometimes I wish life would stop getting in the way of my Jeep projects...
^^^ you guys on the rear, if you have a lot of lift (4"+) you may need to do a new axl mount for your rear shocks. The way their BPE turns the top mount, the angle of the shock coming from an axle(that had its pinion tilted) wont physically fit into the BPE. If you have you pinion tilted it will require some new shock tabs most likely!!
Not if you didn't have one from the factory, or if your local junkyards suck.
Well, I suppose it still would have been cheaper...
Anyway, answer to your Q is that we'd use them if we had them sitting on a shelf...
