Iron rock offroad long arm upgrade

You got a hell of a deal on rcvs or you were overpaying for shafts. My Yukon shafts with spicer joints were $550 with a lifetime warranty, msrp for dana 44 rcv's is $1200. $650 difference is more than I could justify.

I got a helluva deal on RCVs from a new dealer. And they are in a D30.

So I can sell my d30 30-spline chromo's and carrier to a tj guy? What about HP stuff into a low pinion?

d30 30 spline stuff is aftermarket and will only work if the d44 has a carrier that fits them. the d30 carrier won't.

stock stuff is 27 spline.

HP and LP shafts are the same. carriers are not. so you can't put your 30 spline carrier into a LP axle if yours is HP

Wrong, carriers are the same HP to LP AFAIK. The diff housing and gearset aren't.

Carriers are NOT the same 30 to 44 obviously, and probably not 30 to 27 spline either.

oh yea... you're right...damnit. :read:

So they put 27 spline carriers into the tj d44s? I thought the center was a 44 with the larger ring gear and bigger spline count and then the outers (unit bearing, stubs, ball joints) were the same a 30?

no. the tj d44 has 30 spline stuff. but its not the same carrier as the 30 spline D30.

ok got confused as to which carrier for which axle you were talking about. ok, carry on with this thread about long arms, or legs, or whatever

yea... I'm halfway to drunk, so I might be rambling.

so you can sell that 30 spline stuff to a TJ guy, but not one with rubi 44s because his LP axle will take the carrier.... but I'm not sure how many people you will find that want to put that much $$ into an HP. you might be better off selling your whole HP30

I hate it when I lose my beer and find it half empty and completely flat the next morning. Now THAT is alcohol abuse.

D30 and D44 shafts are teh same. (when talking TJ/LJ 44 and XJ 30

Pretty sure he meant Ford D44, where the price is very different. Still got mine for a couple hundo off retail, shipped.

Is this even about the longarms anymore?

Well I was trying to argue the 'cost vs durability' argument used to justify the IRO kit. But then people just went off on tangents.

So, no.
