Ok so I have a buddy of mine that decided he wanted to scrap the sas idea for his Tacoma 👎👎

He has a dana 44 front end from a 81 wagoneer driver side drop
Nothing is installed

4.88 motive gears
Master install with all bearings and seals
Stock shafts and knuckles
New brake pads and rotors
New ball joints
Mile marker locking hubs
Heavy duty diff cover(I'm not sure of brand)

He's trying to sell it to buy a jeep and build it.

What's it worth in your opinions?

You're positive it's driver drop? It's waggy so it's lp. If it were l installed it would go for 650 as a complete axle without a locker and without chromos on pirate or most jeep forums. Craiglist maybe a lot less. Since it's not installed knock off 200$ To 300

Most parts lose half value or more as soon as you try to resell it.
Ball park of 400 to 550.

I find geared and locked ford hp 44s on pirate for 800 to 1000 with lots of goodies not all stock parts frequently.

200$ for the complete axle would be fair. If the other stuff is NIB, i think he will do a bit better than 50%. I would be interested in the Cover depending on price/Brand. Good Luck

I just looked at a locked HP44 with chromos and a locker and gears, hi steer, all installed, for like 800$ obo(means probably get it for 700$)

Alright thanks blondejon

Haha he's pretty upset but he doesn't know anything
I told him it wasn't. A smart idea from the start now he's taking a hit lol

Live and learn I guess

I've taken so many big hits on parts.
Just because you think they are worth a certain amount doesn't mean anyone is willing to pay that amount. I've learned the hard way on about every part I've sold.

at this point in the game, I am realizing its tuition in learning more about all the different stuff you can run on an XJ. a lot of folks think they will get what they paid for something. its usually not true , not even close. Ive accepted that fact and moved on. its a lot easier to live with the huge losses I've taken on parts when I realize I paid to learn something new just like paying for grad school . I got less than 50 cents to the dollar on all my dana 30 stuff and it was all brand new within a few months old on a lot of it. thats a hard hit to take when you spend like 1000$ on WJ swap, 1000$ on gears and lockers and more, etc etc .

He can post it for as much as he wants. You never know who will buy something really. Maybe some with a 81 cherokee chief will need gears and a locker and stuff and offer him like 700$ for everything.

just found a set that is geared and locked in the rear, all put together, ready to go for 1000$ for both:

Waggy means it came from a full size jeep wagoneer when referring to axles. Typically later years like early 80s and up. Cant remember the year they switched to a standard width. That width ends up being similar to stock xj.

Driver side drop is referring to the diff itself being on the driver side of the vehicle. As opposed to the passenger side as in Chevy and a few others.

Just a thought, maybe he should just keep the 44 and put it under the jeep he hopes to build. :dunno:

That's the best option!
