but you gotta admit, mistakes are made under our justice system, we couldnt convict OJ or MJ.

Untill we can get our justice system a little more accurate, lets leave the death penalty to less civilized people.

Too much generalization here, OJ and MJ went free because of lack of evidence/tampering of evidence/failure to present a case that led to conviction. I think MJ payed people off to not testify against him. The death penalty is not just randomly applied, the convicted felon must meet a specific criteria to be eligable for the death penalty.

I'm with xcm though, I don't trust the government enough to judge whether a man is guilty. While we still need things like groups who are finding death row inmates not guilty I don't trust it.

As long as the verdict and sentencing come from jury of peers, I have no problems with it. Society must be able to eliminate cancers, but it has to be ordered by peers rather than government. In fact... I think a government that prohibits their citizenry from ordering the execution of an especially vicious criminal is just as tyrannical as a government that orders those executions directly.

I find it odd that you are against killing a person who has proven themselves a menace to society and have intentionally taken the life/lives of another , yet you support the murder of an unborn child who is innocent.

My view on this is simple, when it's damn certain that someone is guilty (RLG committed murder in a courthouse while escaping from a courtroom iirc, pretty easy to prove) and their crime is bad enough... Hang em high. Once evidence starts getting fuzzy and there are witness disagreements, etc I tend to back off a bit from the death penalty.

I believe it was william blackstone who said "I would let 100 criminals walk free before wrongfully imprisoning one innocent"? Probably butchering the quote, can't google for it at the moment. Regardless it is a sentiment I agree with.
