Improve your shackle angle

xjtrailrider,

About how much extra lift (if any) did you get when using the TeraFlex 1.5 shackles?

i would like too know this also.
i'm planning on this, HD OEM leaves and TF shackles, too hopefully net around 3 to 3-1/2" of lift.

how does it look if you move your bolt back one hole and slide the bracket all the way forward?
that might help with clearance and keep your shackle at a somewhat desireable angle?

xjtrailrider,

I have RE 4.5, shackle brackets and TeraFlex shackles and it sits around 6" in the rear without trail gear/5.5" with.

It really depends on the "angle" you have the shackles set at.

ok, reason i ask is the 4.5" kit shows it with shackles. i was under the impression that the leaves were the same as the 3.5", only the 4.5" with the shackles too make up the difference.

thanks for the info. just trying to get as much clarification as possible to how much lift can be gained.

No shackles with my kit, it re-used the stock shackles with the original lift, I added the longer shackles after adding the brackets to allow more droop and get my pinion angle right.

I also have the relocation bracket and it is great. The only problem i have is that my shackle keeps on hitting the bracket when i am flexing. I have set my shackle at a 45 degree angle. What can i do about that. I can reset my shackle but than my rear is too high in comparison with the front off my cherokee xj

Your shackle angle looks good but if you want more angle/less lift, go to the front hole and then grind the brackets so that the shackle will clear it on full stuff. Or bumpstop it so they do not hit. I also just noticed from the pic that your shackle is hitting the tailpipe, you need to relocate the exhaust.

Got mine installed today. Little trouble getting the passanger side frame bolts to line up, but I think my original shackle box was messed up. A BFH got the job done though. Rides great!

How would mj spring work, I'm sure they ae longer. Are they, and will they work with these brackets or is it over kill. Thinking of useing the main or maybe complete. Just installed TNT bomerangs are it does ride better. My old shackles were 1.25" new ones are 1.5".

saw no response to this question, and I would like to know as well.
I'm looking to use MJ springs to stretch my wheelbase and add some lift, Will these allow for this to happen? Has anyone ran this with MJ main eye leaf set?

MJ leafs are 5" longer eye to eye I believe (from past reading on here, no personal experience)

it would be kind of redundent to do both, and would require more fab to make them work.

many that use the MJ leafs move the front hanger up a bit and still have a good shackle angle.
this box moves the rear hanger down and forward to do the same thing... so 1 does what the other does, too.

If he is also looking to stretch his wheelbase the front mount would not have to be altered.

The kit would work great for him since he wouldn't have to do any special fab in the rear........

Yes I would like to use the MJ springs to stretch the the wheelbase, so looking to this kit to allow me to mount up the MJ springs and shift my axle back in the wheel well.

So I'm getting that this will work then? HAs anyone done this before?

sounds like a plan then.
