Important

You guys are just wrong talkin' about Rangers sister like that. ;)

Decent weekend ... replaced the front steering with a RHD drag link, flip kit on the passenger side knuckle (already had one on the DS), and a zj tie rod with all new TRE's. Relocated the track bar bracket to keep the geometry correct. I cut the brackets and clamped into position, and Aaron welded them in. He does a great job with that welder IMO. I had to shorten the track bar 3" ; cut a piece of an old drag link to sleave inside the track bar tubing prior to Aaron welding it ... it worked real well.

Still have UCA bushings to install in the front end. Waiting on steel to do something with my crappy control arm angles.

Started replacing the rear leaf packs tonight. This is not going as smoothly as I had hoped. I started on the passenger side first. After breaking the front bolt loose and cutting the leaf pack out, I didn't quite leave enough stud to easily remove the remainder of the bolt from the weld nut. Tried several unsuccessful attempts at welding a nut to it and turning it out. I cut a slot in the frame where the weld nut is, and it was packed full of dirt (damn I hate mud). I've shot it with some PB. I'll probably try weld another nut to it and try again after the PB has had a chance to work ... maybe try and get my hands on an angle drill and try an easy out.

Damn this is fun!

Rain sucks. It hailed here this morning though.

Looks like I'm gonna have to get drunk tonight to overcome my sadness and boredom.

Damn ... sadness, boredom, whining ...

Last night, my leaf pack install went from bad to worse. The drivers side weld nut broke. I "thought" I had broke it loose, and was working it back a forth while cutting the bolt. All of a sudden I heard that snap sound that gives you that feeling something bad has just happened. Had to cut the frame on that side too ... re-weld a nut inside and weld the frame back up. But, after several hours of removing the old springs and repairing the frame rail, the new packs were in. Tonight, everything is back together.

But, just to keep things par, I am going to have to order some boomerang shackles (TNT). I read where the RE 1461's were designed to work with them, but I was hoping I could use my stock shackles. The stock ones don't work without bouncing off the rear bumper header panel ...

But, life is good! Nice to have good rear springs.

The last time I had them off, I noticed both main leafs had a small crack started. That was a real concern of course. Both main's were also severely "wrapped". Here is a pic ...

BTW: As a reminder, I run a ladder bar, hence the blocks to adjust the ride height. Some of the damage could have happened at Winterfest when the welds broke on axle end of the ladder bar. Dunno ...
