Waiting at a job interview for Amazon fulfillment center. Hoping for days shifts and better pay. Told that the entire facility is air conditioned!
You must be getting paid shitty now, because Amazon isn't great.
They use a lot of part-time help for pickers. Freezer warehouses are technically air conditioned.... and don't fall for the 'we will start you on weekend night and move you' line of bs.

Yea the guy interviewing me said, the walking is insane but I'm not to worried about that. turns out that I wouldn't be working for Amazon but jll maintenance contractor. Still the same shifts as Amazon though, just none of the Amazon benefits. They interviewed me as a level 2 mechanic which pays they same as I currently make. It is a day shift but is sun-wed 10hrs. Not sure how I feel about that. The guy seemd to really like me and said I'd be a good fit and will likely get an offer in the next couple days. I guess I'll have to see what that offer really is before I make up my mind.

I'm not actively looking for a new job. They tracked me down so I figured I'd hear what they have to offer. If nothing else getting some training and experience on the robotics part of it(which I currently have 0 of) could bring me to bigger and better things in the future

Every Thu, Fri and Sat off with a 40 hour week?

Yes please.

Close. I work Monday to Thursday 10 hrs a day. Every weekend is a 3 day weekend. Sometimes we can work Fridays for overtime if we want.
That's the type of job I need. Have asked my boss a couple times over the years to be able to do 4-10 hour days but he keeps saying no

I did 4 days x 10 hours on 2nd shift when I worked at CAT and loved it, 3 day weekends were awesome.

I have asked three times to get my shift changed 45 minutes earlier. Usually the last hour to 1.5 hours of my shift I sit and do nothing as I ran out of things to do. Last two days I came in early and worked off the clock to get ahead and to train another guy on part of my job.

I get tired of being asked for explanations for my personnel decisions. Sometimes there's things that are out of your pay grade.

I used to tell people that if they couldn't find anything to do then I could find someone who could.

I have the option with my schedule being the "maxiflex" schedule that I can come in early and leave early, or stay late, but can not exceed 10 hours between 6am and 6pm, also have the opportunity to earn credit leave so for each hour worked over up to 24 hours, I can take that time off later, so its pretty easy to do 4-10's or the every other Friday off schedule. It also makes taking a holiday week off for only 8 hours of vacation spent if using credit leave in conjunction with the holiday.

I am still trying to get the gov to recognize WF as a holiday :D

What's a regular schedule with weekends off?

mac 'fri/sat off every six weeks' 'gyvr

But don't you normally take vacation from memorial day to labor day Matt?

I'll just say that working 8-5 now is pretty sweet compared to what I used to do...the lie about being self employed is that you get to set your own schedule. The reality is that you bust your ass when work is there and sit tight waiting when it's not hoping you made enough to carry you through your dry spell...
