Anyone have any experience with the BowFlex SelectTech adjustable weight dumbbells? Im needing to get some weights for the rest of my shoulder strengthening and these seem like the ticket instead of having a rack of multiple weights. Space savings is a big thing in our little house.

Bands are a lot cheaper than bells. Did your PT suggest free weights? My PT was all on weight machines and bands.

Dammit. You owe me boobs for this relatively constructive post.

John brings the win!

my PT consisted of resistance bands in the beginning and then to resistance training on a machine like a Bowflex. I'm nearing in on the ping I can begin free weights. I would rather have another Bowflex (type) machine, but space is so limited in this little house I have no where to put a bulky BF machine. Thinking I may get one anyhow and stick in the hunting cabin living room. hell, people only stay there 3 weeks a year and then just a random visitor a few times a year. They can walk around it.
I can get a used whole BF machine cheaper than a set of those bells.

I'm doing free movement for my back\hips and resistance bands for my feet, calf, arms and shoulders. PT hopes to move me up to heavy bands and free weights in a few weeks for the start of heavy core work so I can maybe finally get back to work 99% in another 6-10 weeks. I really want a tread mill but the last thing I want to do is try to move one into my craphole house I'm in now. Next house will have a tread mill and a BowFlex as they are so easy to use.

Your local gym should have everything you need and seems like most are competing with planet fitness for $10 a month. Then you don't have anything taking up your space and there are usually 20 somethings there to look at.

I have a bunch of equipment in my basement I use some days but for the most part I've been a gym member for about 15yrs.

Local gym....Unionville, MO bwahaaahaaaa! I guess there is a Snap Fitness like 40 minutes away in iowa and another few gyms like 45 minutes the other direction.

Damn I figured there had to be something even if nothing special just 1. I googled and nothing. I bet that high school has some kind of public program but I'm betting you can't go within 500ft of that.

Yea you're screwed. Bow flex adjustable weights it is.
I do like those straps though. They seem better than that bulky dumbbell from bowflex.

Lol, rural America, where most folks work hard enough to not need a gym, or they're on the meth diet plan. :D

^^ This is so true!

Our local high school gym has an "open" period for the public, but it is always packed with the damn kids at the public times and empty during school time....go figure. My schedule is so sporadic I can hardly ever get there in the open times. I wish that we had a 24hr fitness so I could go whenever I wanted....but that would make the excuses harder to come up with :D

Like John said, it used to be that we worked hard enough to stay in shape and that was enough, but between shoulder surgery and a full time office job, I've gotten soft(er) than ever. I need to drop ideally another 15 pounds, and I think that is obtainable. I am down about 20 from November.....still a ways to go. Taking it slow and easy.

we used to have the worlds fastest drying rack in our spare room when we lived in town...she called it a treadmill....
