mac 'maybe see Rutledge Wood again' gyvr

I was over at the welding shop next door and they have 15ft or so of 2x4 0.250 wall steel tubing. I think in 3ft sections but theyre pretty damn good at welding those puppies flush(we polish for them, really easy to blend on stainless and always true). Do you guys think itll be too narrow for replacing my rockers? Material would be free and probably $50 or so for labor and a case of beer. Id probably weld on some nerf bars to push it out a bit.

We did 2x5 on our jeep. Im still gonna weld on some outer bars to it to make it a bit wider

2x6 mounted even with the pinch weld

I did 2x6 because it sticks out a little. 2x4 will fit flush so if you're going to bend and weld a rub rail on you'll be ok.

I paid $80 for a 10 foot stick of 2x6 cut in half.

I finished the new touchscreen dvd player install in the Tahoe today. Overall happy with it, getting a little road noise through the speakers, so I'm going to go through n get some better grounds made. The steering wheel controls interface will not work....screwed with it for about 2 hours, hell with it.

What you end up going with?

It's some android based Chinese unit off ebay. Was only like $130. So far other than the steering wheel controls not working due to the interface unit, I am very happy with it. I need to get my camera mounted out back for the reverse camera option to work, but gps, DVD, am/fm etc are all good to go and I like the Bluetooth and ipod options too. Cutting the mounting kit sucked but it looks ok.

how we roll for interior modifications.

I used a razor knife and a file....way too much work for no better than it turned out. I was pissed with myself after all that work I remembered I had a full drawer of dremel attachments and a new dremel I could have used...along with plenty of air tools that would have simplified the job.....

conveniently a lifetime of RC models leaves you with everything you need to do custom interior things.

jennie actually looked at me and said "What are all of these sanding things?"

well you tend to accumulate all manner of t bars and contoured sanding blocks. Sometimes you need two feet of perfectly flat sanding surface.

Does anyone here have dash cams? My girlfriend lives in the city and has had her car messed eith a couple of times i thought maybe a cheapo cam front and rear can help catch a bitter neighbor. Already have to help fix some scratches.

I have looked into it hard because the head unit in jennies car has an unused aux that we could use as the monitor for a 2ch DVR hidden in the dashboard.

the biggest issue I saw is that most of the DVR style ones don't really do any kind of motion sensing or record events, they just loop.

a bunch of the two camera mount on the windshield ones do motion sensing and g sensing.
I've been eye molesting a vantru n2, they're $200, but do everything, including standby motion recording for when someone walks near the car.
