is he answering himself???

oh the possibilities. where should he send the check to lol

Well I guess it's time for him to get dicked around. I set up an in person interview for tomorrow but I won't be able to make it.

The job is a field service tech. As in, the guy with a van in his driveway and goes out on calls when plants need him. Any body ever have this kind of job? I'm wondering if you always get at least 40hrs doing this sort of thing.
Also I work better with a partner and it didn't seem like this job would have one.

Either way I have to at least explore the interview. Every time I've ever had an interview it's always been a do what I need to do and say what I need to say and really hope he likes me to get the job situation. This will be my 1st time deciding if I want the job while he's telling me about it.

That's one of the things I assume and fear. Right now I work 12hr shifts but 2 on 2 off. Not sure I want a day job that's going to require 60+ hours. Money may be good but money isn't everything.
Guess we'll find out soon enough.
Umm...those guys don't work just days. An old slogan for one of the companies that did that kind of work. Our customers don't just work days and neither do we.

That's an interesting civilian schedule.

We've been doing a lot of department of labor research at work with our civilian contractors. They are mandated by their company to work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. No more, no less.

My company has different thoughts on the subject . . .

Not sure if it's just this area but pretty much every factory around here is on that shift. Work 7out of 14 days. It's 2on 2off 3on 2off 2on 3off. That's a 14 day round.

Owner wise you are paying 2 employees instead of 3 for a 24 hour day. No overtime being paid because we don't usually get over 40hours in a pay week. Less bennifits because less employees.
Employee wise our long work week is 3 day long.
Only down side is 12 hours is a long ass day.

Tonight I'm on ot coverage and cutting out after 8hrs about 3am. It sometimes is weird getting off work at 3am but cool weird.

Yea I feel that. But that's on call and probably ot. But do I want to wake up at 2am to do an on call job.... Not sure about that.

My current boss is 24/7 on call. Nights has to call him anytime there is an issue that is taking more than 20mins to figure out.
I've had to call him plenty of times. It's no fun waking your boss up at 2:30 in the morning...........well it's kinda fun

He has the job because none of the other guys wanted it lol

My dad was on call 24/7 for 30 years. It's kinda tough life for a guy with a family. I was usually the kid whose dad never showed up at ball games, school functions or scouts. But when people want their power to stay on, someone has to repair the stuff that breaks at the generating stations. He used to trade the call-in hours for extra time off during his regular shifts. I remember not seeing him for days at time and then he would get 4 days off during the middle of the week.

And I will tell you... it is no fun being on the other end of those calls. You get one from the sheriff and even if you are single/alone its not fun.

Maybe when I was younger I could have handled other than normal hours, but nowadays if it's dark, I wanna be sleeping or at least relaxing. Doubt I would get up at 2am for less than $100/hr, 3 hour minimum.

In the spirit of Mac 'guess how much without going over' gyvr's posts, who wants to guess how many pounds of rocks we brought back from our trip out west?
Winner gets a beer and a nice chunk of petrified wood.

Rocks on the left side along deck edge, and against garage wall, were already there
