is there any decent deck over compound that would at least last a while? previous owners used deck over stuff on our deck and 90% of it flaked off. i want to at least get something on it before we start renting it out. or would we be better off sanding everything and using a water seal of some sort? the wood on there doesn't look great, but its pretty solid still. no matter what i'm going to have to power wash and sand before i do anything. my crappy ass powerwasher took a lot of it off, so my friends big washer will probably take off most of whats left
 
Just blast back to bare wood and use something like Thompsons etc. It will let you know what you really have and its easy to match up with if you need to replace boards along the way, and its not going to break the bank.

This. I did it to my deck last year.

Wasn't fun but worked well.

Deck over stuff works great if you want to hide stuff and/or add texture. It flaked off because it wasn't prepped properly. I really liked the Behr stuff because it was thick and my 80lb dog's nails couldn't scratch it like bare wood.
 
That reminds me, i have to stain our deck this year. Not really looking forward to it but needs done.
 
staining the deck is code for the frying pan trick in some parts of the chapter :D
 
After a long rebuild due to some valve springs breaking, my 05 GTO is going back together. Dropped the motor in Sunday night.. grabbed the header to throw on next and under the header lies the flex plate. Fail. Motor went in a lot quicker the 2nd time though!
 
I need to start getting a game plan for my 6.0 build for the buggy. I have two to choose from, an 01 lq4 and an 00 6.0. Both need tore down for seals but want to do a cam and springs to help a little. Hope be abble to ise the truck intakes as I'm moving the motor back a few inches by cutting out the firewall.

Basicly unsure on what motor to use and what parts to get. Only have about 2k to spend on hop up parts and i know that wont get me much, not counting ecu tune. Trans will be ether a 4l80e, 4l65e or t400, only the 4l80e doesnt need rebuilt.
 
Andy, we need to talk. You'd be surprised to find what 2k can do. I have some info from the C10 build.
 
I don't have any handy on here, but I know that with that kind of money you could get a good cam, get a hot tune in it with a wire thinning at the same time as the computer tune , and also still have money left over for some small incidental items. You could also get a set of headers for it at that time as well. Being resourceful and finding stuff on eBay and Craigslist goes a long ways.
 
Well apparently earlier in the year i put in for next thursday off work but now i can't remember what i wanted it off for. Maybe im loosing my memory in my old age.
 
I looked at that Deckover stuff and for the price it damn well better work. I hate waterproofing decks, they are slick when wet(ha). Stain and clean every year or two depending on how much sun they get.
