Didn't you just buy a house? The Iowa job would mean selling and buying. That may be a deciding factor right there.
we did over 2 years ago, but the house here isn't worth much...and won't really build any equity unfortunately. our house could rent for $1000-1200 here and our mortgage is currently only $659 a month (no thats not a typo). home prices are still dropping here so rental would be the way to go currently. there are a lot of factors at play here, but honestly the house is pretty low on the list. no matter what if they make the offer its going to be a really tough choice. there is a lot of opportunity that exists in Iowa that doesn't here in wny, but i do really like this area out here. outside of the 60% increase there would also be a significantly better benefits package that includes a pension and 401k plus other pre tax investment options. all i have now is a pretty weak 401k...
the new job opportunity here has a big strike against it in that they told me it would be nearly impossible to make it full time. it would mean working at my current job and working part time as an instructor at the local community college...but it would be teaching classes that i really want to teach. it would just mean long weeks during school times...
again...at the moment, there isn't an official offer on the table anywhere, so i'm trying not to think about it too much.
