Important

When a shit head neighbor's dogs come in to your yard multiple times and kills and maims your niece's State Grand Champion rabbits and all of your laying hens, you take care of things.
You can ask them to keep their dogs under control you can call the pound, you can call the law, you can call ghost busters, none of that works.
I guess having grand champion rabbits with all of the meat and skin peeled off the bottom three inches of their feet is OK with you? Having a $100.00 per week egg business disappear is right up your ally too?
Shitty owners make shitty pets, shooting shitty owners is illegal, eliminating shitty owners pets is not illegal. You think I am a coward because I protect my place? Would it be less cowardice if I attacked it with a knife? Should I spread mud on my face and wear a Ghillie suit?

I get ya and understand how pissed ya get when this happens. But the discerning difference is we are talking about a pet. A wolf, wild dog, attack vultures, whatever.... wild animals doing wild things. When we accept an animal, supposedly domesticated, into out house then it is OUR responsibility to train and/or control it along with the myriad of other responsibilities that come with pet ownership. Multiple encroachments by you neighbors pet is 100% on them. Sounds like they need to be removed from the pet owners gene pool. If you've contacted them as well as the county and gotten unsatisfactory results you may need to push harder. Killing the pet, unless it's gone rabid/feral is just the lazy way out.
As for poison, yes. That is cowardly and irresponsible on your part. Your gonna lace a chunk of meet and toss it over a fence. And when the wrong animal eats it and dies? You won't care, you'll just do it again. Why not just daisy chain some claymores at your property line? That'll get it done, right? Just remember which side goes toward the enemy...:o

So if I am in a state park and a bear attacks me or my family, I should shoot the park ranger? Im so confused.
Simply put, there are bad people and bad animals, both of which should be dealt with accordingly.

Strawman effort. Wild animals are night and day from domesticated ones. Good try though.

Habib?? Racist much?

Nope. Just formed opinions based on personal, real world experience. And fwiw, Habib isn't a race. It's a common name associated with a wide range of peoples.

I countered and go what I wanted. Will be 2k less per year to start. But due to a lack of experience I can handle that. But I also have a lot of perks, like a brand new car that I can use for whatever I want, paid cell phone etc.

Have to talk to the old man today.

Congrats! did you put in for your WF vacation while you interviewed.

Possible. Spend any time kicking sand in the Persian Gulf (90-91, 93-94)? Bosnia (99-01) (more mud/snow than sand)? Iraq (04-05, 09-10? Afghanistan (12-13)?

yeah Iraq and Afghanistan. sand blows, mountains are cold. Never going back to Pakistan, and I hate helicopters.

I love my dogs.

but if they're out of my yard and something bad happens I'm not going to blame anyone but myself.

Don't want your dog shot? Keep it from terrorizing the neighborhood.
A bad dog is a bad dog, doesn't matter how it got there, just matters that it is.

My cat problem hasn't come back, and I had a good streak going.

This. If my dog gets out and does something dumb/aggressive and gets himself shot, yes it's on me but I wouldn't be mad about it. It is my responsibility as a pet owner to keep my dog contained within my property. Once it leaves my property state law says my neighbor can smoke it if he (legitimately) feels threatened.

That works great until someone gets seriously hurt while waiting for the county to cite the owner several times and go through the courts.

Every aggressive dog call I go on I tell the complainant they can defend themselves however they see fit if the animal is on their property and they fear for their safety. Is it an owner problem? Yes. Do owners of aggressive dogs usually care about a citation or having their dog removed? Nope.

.

Dang, I was figured out, now the real question is, how many people around here have a clue what that is without having to Google it. But the question still stands, can I shoot the bear, or can I shoot heroin and chase a lot of mohawk yielding dancing bears behind the strip club? Im still so confused.....is it still December, and if so, whats with the valentines decorations at the grocery store by the seafood?

I guess until you walk in my shoes you really have no idea what you are talking about. I live way way way out here, the "county officials" are at least an hour away if they decide to respond at all. We take care of ourselves...

Grew up on a farm in the country, and also grew up a duck Hunter and a lover of duck dogs...

To me farm rules apply...if a neighbors pet came on our property and played nicely, it was more than welcome. We had our fair share of neighborhood dogs and cats that we knew where they came from and were friendly as can be.

Now if an aggressive pet showed up and made one aggressive gesture towards a human, pet or live stock...it wasn't going to survive. Shot several rabid cats that belonged to neighbors when there really wasn't time mess around...my brother had a big neighbor dog bite completely through his hamstring once. There is a difference between a pet that is fighting to protect itself and a pet that is on the attack...if you can't tell the difference, you shouldn't own pets...bad pet owners aren't going to take the time to train aggressive pets...

As a for instance...right now we have a neighbor cat in town that comes in our yard and sits on our deck sometimes. He is always friendly towards us and our daughter. My wife's cat will howl like a banshee at him when he sits on the porch, but our cat is a dick to other cats and afraid to go outside. Neighbor cat has never made an attempt to get inside to fight him, nor has he shown any bad behavior towards us when our dickhead cat is howling at him...if I didn't want him on the porch anymore I could talk to the neighbors and they would keep him away from us, but it doesn't bother me...keeps the birds from crapping everywhere and he cleaned up the spot where I clean all my ducks and geese in the fall pretty well.

I am thinking about upgrading my car trailer, its 18' w/ dove, anyone here run the 20' bumper hitch units? I have the heavy gooseneck trailers, so I do not need anything that direction, just something to tote the Jeep on occasion and the SxS and four wheelers more often than the Jeep. I cant remember if mine has 16' flat w/ 2' dove or 18' flat w/ 2' dove, guess I should measure that.....

The trailer im building right now is about 23ft long but its also gonna have the pop up camper mounted on it so i will end up with about 15-16 deck for the jeep to sit on.

If you already have a bigger trailer why not just use it instead of buying new trailer?
