My Ferd popped up two codes and is running like poo...not what I needed right now.

Cyl 2 misfire and bank 1 lean. The 5.4 went from damn reliable to a nut **** the day after the Aztek decided to shear off its wheel studs on the Reagan.

Replace Coil pack #2

mac 'should fix bank 1 lean?' gyvr

This. Coil packs are cheap too.

So im looking at a Scion FR-S this weekend. any thoughts on these? Decent MPG but premium, sporty but not exactly wicked fast. Just need something with better MPG than the Chereokee and something where i don't have to explain to my date the lack of working lights or 109 odd noises in the jeep.

Bit the bullet last night with both the wife and my DDs having issues, the college age daughter needing a car when home and the son getting his permit in two weeks. Bought a 2003 Ford Taurus. First thing inside of it and I instantly remembered the countless Hertz rentals I had back in those days.

Always the problem.

my as well pick up a coil pack for this one too, it will go out eventually. :D

funny. I have a 5.4 e350 in the shop now that is missing but not throwing a code and I was going to start messing with the coils. I need one of those scanners that I can just press a button to shut one coil down at a time to narrow down where its coming from. I'm too fat to be messing around in the dog house.

Look at the heater hoses, there should be a 'by-pass hose' before the firewall. These things are notorious for having poor heat. You need to blow out the heater core almost seasonally. I've been removing that bypass hose and plugging it as coolant will always flow past the heater core instead of through it.

I have a MAC scanner that does a ABS and the sorts, but it wont do manfac specific things. Getting itchy to pull trigger on a Modis or something similar soon...

2 valve. This one was ALOT cheaper than the 3v Expys when I got it.

2V are better IMO. I'd rather deal with blowing threads out of a 2v than breaking plugs in a 3v. How many miles? Might be a good idea to pull front cover and looking at timing components. Might be surprise at how much, or how little of the chain guides are left and the oil powered chain tensioners are always leaking.

Five more weeks until I should be a dad (at the latest if not earlier).
