Important

-7 here this morning while I was choring....was bearable bc of no wind. I don't hate the cold, I hate humidity and 95.....and warm beer...and hookers that expect to be paid the full amount....and bottom shelf blow......

-18 here this morning, thats not counting wind chill. Good batteries and glow plugs only go so far in this cold of weather. I need to get a block heater in the ol p stroke. Had a jump box on one battery and jumper cables on the other, still wouldn't start. Good thing there wasn't school today so I just drove the yukon to work.

The plug is there, you need to get the cord from an international dealer and hook it up. Mine cost $20.

That is not 100 % true. depends on what state the truck was originally delivered to. Unless it was different for the 7.3's. I was told the same thing about my 6.7 then bought the cord when I went to install it nothing in the block but a plug. After doing research we found out if the truck is delivered to a southern state like Georgia ( like mine) you get nothing in the block.

Ram" No need anyway 6.7's plug in at -20 min" Rod

our Dodge was a southern truck and had no plug as well...but it was a Cummins and they just start because it is time to make horsepower and free fuel.

Our new Duramax has no plug...and it fired right up with no delay today....but thinking next truck will be the 6.7

Ordered a set of new General Grabbers AT2's for the Duramax and will be here Friday and I am going back to a stock rim also, I do not like the aftermarket wheels that came on it. Putting a new set of take offs on it and will have 1.5" spacers/adapters on it to convert from the old pattern to this new metric crap. Should look stout with the little extra offset and larger tires.

2 hours into a 5 hour flight...cant sleep anymore so i guess ill pay for wi-fi. It will be the only thing on my dime on this trip :) There will be a 90 degree temperature difference between Jamestown and Vegas. I hope my body doesn't explode.

I had two 6.4 Ford Diesels.

One had a block heater, one didn't.

It never needed it tho, that thing would start anytime.

It has a plug, the heater just doesn't work.

My junk is OLD!!!!

We have noticed the excursion doesn't like to be started with the remote start when it's this cold. Will start right up with the key tho. Doesn't make sense to me.

grid heater works well in those, but you may have to slave it off something to get enough amps depending on your battery health.

good luck.

beater XJ didn't really want to fire this morning, but after a second it caught.
oil pressure took a disconcerting amount of time to come up. No knocking noises though.
If it wasn't for the serious ring leakage I'd swear this thing had a new bottom end. When I drained the oil last week it reeked of gas, so I guess it really is a 257K mile motor. Of course that oil may have been in there forever to. Who knows.

I think it has something...there's a switch in the cabin. I think it feeds off the shore power. I don't know if it works. If it appears it doesn't, I may have it looked at when I have the 60hp injectors done in April.

Going to try to start it on Saturday with a predicted high of 30ish.

We love our 6.7 and yes it starts every time no matter what the temp. You will love the Grabbers. I have them on the rear of our F-350 dulley. They hook up and last many many miles

Got the truck plugged in. Did it just this morning. Also have a salamander heater blowing under it.

Need to get it in for exhaust work.

switch may be for the isolator to allow it to use house battery to start.

or may be for a block heater.

"something" is a bit vague....

Mine takes forever to get oil to the top end. The valve train clatters in it for a while till the oil starts flowing. I've been running rotella since I've owned it.

It's a light switch...and it's marked something like engine warmer or something...

I assume it's powered off the house batteries and/or genset
