Found some brown dog motor mounts on ebay with new bushings for 50 shipped. I forgot about buying those until this last snow.

Well diodes in the alternator in the zj are on their way out. Or atleast that's what the guy testing it at O'Reilly's told us. Looks like we will be putting a new alternator in this weekend.

Having issues with it?

I wouldn't put too much faith in those machines. I worked at Advance for about 3 years while I was in school and found the machine we used often lied.

Yea we have been having some problems with our lights and gauge lights flickering and battery gauge dropping while sitting still. Goes up to normal when pedal is pushed.

I have oem starters and alternators rebuilt at the local place.

mac 'dislike of parts store units' gyvr

The new alternator I put on after the trip before last to Badlands is making the same bearing noise again after my last trip. Probably pick up a junk yard alternator and have it checked out to have it as a spare.

Don't know if we have any places around us like that. Don't like parts stores either but what can ya do. Probably just go get new one from Napa this weekend.

I like playing "bobber" with the ol lady in the hot tub......

Cheese "I probably like it more than she does" Man

those have PCM regulated alts right?

I'd make sure that the PCM grounds and such are good.

The heat in the jeep sucks, obliviously because its -6 out. but it normally sucks anyway. im thinking of going with my ghetto roots and shoving a piece of cardboard in front of the grille. its not a permanent fix but im not really looking for a fix. not having great heat doesn't bother me too much but the kids school decided it was to cold so they called it off and i had to tote the kids to grandmas this morning. i looked back and they were frickin cold. so for the ride home id like to make it suck less for them, think the cardboard fix will help?

I've done it. It will help, but ultimately the fix is a new thermostat assuming the heater core isn't plugged.

block off the side that the mechanical fan is cooling, leave 1/2 the aux fan uncovered and it won't overheat.

it's -7 here and my junk overheated this morning. I hate chinese waterpumps.

If your coolant is getting up to temp then heater core would be my first suspect. Pull both heater hoses and put a garden hose on each one until you flush all the crap out. I need to do this to my ZJ but spraying water all over the place when it's 0* out doesn't sound like fun.

If your coolant temp is not getting up to 210* then the cardboard will help but a new thermostat would help more.

I have the radiator 100% covered in the Cummins...it is a cold bitch. The new Duramax may not make its own fuel like the Dodge, but it sure is warm and cozy with heated leather :D

Cheese "heated seats and steering wheel in the Denali FTW!" Man
