Aaaaand somebody hit the truck while I was gone. Parked at the bottom of my driveway. Hood won't open and can't turn to the right because the tire hits.

I'll be surprised if somebody does. Fortunately my neighborhood is very active on the fb page and are asking around for me.

Apparently there's been some crime in the neighborhood lately. Good thing my house has an alarm. Might be time to invest in some cameras too.

Yeah I saw Sam's post about that. Seriously considering cameras myself now.

My neighbor that watches the house is retired Army. I hope for their sake they run into me before him...

trailcams are the cheapest method.

just make sure it's disguised.
and be aware of the angles. Put it up too high and you'll not get a decent enough photo of facial features to be worth a damn in the dark.

alright...what sort of things do you always forget to pick up when doing a motor swap? I have a good list, but i still feel like im missing things. i may or may not have a vehicle for part store runs when i swap motors, but even if i do, i hate running to the store when things are moving along well...

also its a 96 motor going into an 00...so automatically there is some weirdness...

motor mounts (not ANCHOR brand)
hoseclamps for cooling system
valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, RMS, distributor gasket since you'll be putting your DIS sensor in, OFA oring set
freeze plugs
you already know the funky stuff about the header and such... fed emissions 00 right?
manifold gasket
exhaust donut gasket
new exhaust manifold studs, or throw spare manifold bolts in instead, the studs have broken on me before
RTV
coolant
fuel injector orings (6-12)
case of brakleen, roll of shop towels, handful of utility knife blades
flywheel or flexplate bolts as required, make sure to use the 6 hole spacer/washer if automatic
pilot bearing and TOB if manual. grease the trans input quill properly after cleaning it off
serp belt if it's worn
belt tensioner bolt (you know the one...) spare on hand

can anyone tell me what position the selector on the transfer case should be in for 2wd? the net has very bad info on this.

a pic of yours in 2wd would be great.

I have no way to verify, but I believe all the way back is 2wd no? What case do you have? You could disco the rear shaft and see when it locks and unlocks the case with the tranny in neutral.
