Important

Anyone got any opinions on PowerFlo air filters? R.A. has them on close out dirt cheap, and I need a filter...

Also while I'm at it. I'm looking for recommendations on a trans mount to go with my Brown Dog engine mount kit. It's got the rubber bushings.

went to look at that white xj today...i wish people would tell the truth on clist. it was way rustier than mine. frame was in good shape, but the kid clearly bedlined over rust. i pushed on the rear quarter with my thumbnail and the whole thing moved. i could have poked my finger through if i wanted. that and he started parting it out and gave up...they whole thing is in pieces. he also said in the ad he was selling for scrap value, which apparently to him means $600 with no rear axle and no head...no thanks

the kids who want my xj are coming over tomorrow for another look. i'm not sure what to do, but i probably should just sell it to them, even without another plan. i looked at the front frame rail and its bent in pretty badly. could be straightened fairly easily, but its right where the steering box bolts are. if the deal happens, i might need a hug tomorrow night

flagged for removal.

A little bit of history on it... It was originally sold/leased out of Massachusetts, from 1997-1999. Then, it went to California, where it spent most of its life, before coming to Michigan. When it arrived in the Motor City, the underbody was coated with Ziebart underbody protection, and it shows. There is no visible rust, anywhere.

When I first purchased it, I had it professionally detailed, it was first washed, then clay bar'd, polished and waxed. The interior was completely detailed as well and the carpets, seats and headliner were shampooed. I had the front doors windows, rear door windows, and cargo area windows tinted 20%. I had most of the dents and dings removed. And, I even replaced the windshield and windshield trim. Even though the interior was thoroughly cleaned, after I got it home, I was still grossed out that there was 17 years of who knows what imbedded in the fabric of the seats. So, I removed the seats, took them apart, threw all the fabric in the washing machine (twice), installed heated seat kits (because I figured, why not?), reassembled the seats, and reinstalled them. The inside literally smelled like fabric softener for a month, lol. There is one cigarette burn on the drivers front seat bottom fabric. I considered having it repaired, but was also considering having Katzkin leather seats put in, so I never bothered.

This is an awesome example of a XJ Cherokee that has been well maintained, and with no expense spared to make it the best XJ around. I purchased this XJ with the intention of making it the best daily driver possible and to keep miles off of my other Jeep, a highly modified 2012 AEV Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I have spent well over $15,000 in parts (plus the vehicle itself, not including labor) on this Jeep XJ. I am very meticulous and I have spent countless hours working on it, to get it perfect. Obviously perfection is impossible without a frame off restoration, that not being possible since it's a uni-body, lol. It definitely has been built to go off road though, but I wouldn't because, honestly, it's just too nice.

When I first test drove this XJ, it was fun and drove fine, but you could tell its suspension and steering were worn out. It had the typical rear end sag and really loose feeling steering. I knew that over 17+ years, it needed some help. I literally changed EVERYTHING related to the suspension and steering. I put on a 1.5" OME Light Load suspension, which is known to have the best ride, and changed every single arm, bushing, bracket, etc. from the suspension and steering. It was much better but I still wasn't content. The ride was better but the stance was still off, now it was higher in the back then the front. At that point, I installed basically every part that JKS offers for the XJ, including the ACOS, which took car of leveling the stance. From there I was happy but still not satisfied with the ride, so I changed the brand new OME shocks over to Monroe Sensatrac shocks with the use of Iron Rock Off-Road Bar Pin Eliminating kits in the front and rear. The front & rear OME shocks will also be included with the sale. The front OME's had the bar pins pressed out, the rears did not.

I wanted to keep a somewhat updated stock look, so I chose the 16" Mamba MR1x Wheels (TJ Rubicon Style) wheels with the great riding 245/75/16 (30.5") Goodyear Duratrac All Season Tires. I was considering black wheels to go for the blacked out look, but decided on the silver finish to compliement the Country Edition Pin Striping and Badging. I think it looks better this way and retains a stock-like appearance. I could've went with up to a 32" or 33" tire with the suspension setup (and added 1" shackles), but I didn't want it to be too tall and "look" like a lifted Jeep. This XJ definitely has a higer stance, but not over the top, more like the UP Country version had, I think.

Safety and style was also big on my list so I sprung for the JW Speaker 8900 DOT LED Headlights. At over $1,000-1,100 for headlights, these are expensive as heck, but once you see them light up the road with a perfectly focused bright white light pattern, you will understand why and appreciate them, and demand them. I actually have them on my JK as well. I continued the lighting changes but adding clear turn signals, side markers, and red/clear tail lights by Depo. I wasn't satisfied with the look so I removed them and replaced them with smoke turn signals, side markers and Red/Smoked/Clear Tail Lights instead. On a Black Jeep, I thought it looked better. I still have the clear lenses, if you want them with the sale, assuming they are still available as they are currently listed on Craigslist locally.

I really enjoy my music, so no expense was spared on the audio system. Years ago, I used to work in car audio and did the installation myself. Except, for the Code Alarm remote starter, I didn't want to mess with that. For that I took the Jeep to Car Tunes. Absolutely no corners were cut during the installation of the stereo system, at all. If I didn't like the way a wire was ran, I redid it. I started out buying and installing a new 2014 Pioneer head unit. I didn't like the controls on it, so I removed it, and purchased a 2014 (Top-of-the-Line) Alpine radio with SiriusXM Tuner and Antenna. Everything else is high-end JL Audio, none of the entry level junk. I installed a JL Audio HD900/5 (900 watts) amplifier to power the two sets of JL Audio C5 Speakers (front doors & rear sound bar), along with a JL Audio 10W7ae (Anniversary model) preloaded in their ProWedge enclosure. Streetwires ZN9 RCA's were used along with a JL Audio 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit. The System is properly fuse both under the hood (near battery) and near the amplifier (which is under the rear bench seat.

I'm sure I'm missing some things.

Only reason I have decided to list it is because my wife and I have just signed a purchase agreement on a new home and I'd like to free up some cash for unexpected, home related expenses. I don't need or really want to sell it. If it sells, great - I hope it goes to a new home that will take as good a care of it as I have. If it doesn't sell - oh well, I'll finish up the odds and ends that it needs to make it perfect, and enjoy it forever. It can be seen locally in the West Bloomfield (Oakland County), Michigan area by appointment. You can call me Jeff (during reasonable hours) at (248) Five Three Five - 4 3 3 3.

I'm not looking for a trade, but I will consider them (clean title), $15,000-$25000 (plus/minus cash).
