I pulled the wire on my mower that was making contact when put it in reverse. Now I can unsafely mow in reverse.

I shorted the switch that shuts the motor off if you get off of the seat.
The moron who invented that safety feature must not have had to pick up sticks and dog toys.

picked up some 1.5" .120 wall DOM tonight......

Dirtbound is starting to piss me off. I bought their rear, lower quarter guards, that took nearly a month to ship, and I received them with out hardware. I sent an email Friday with no response, and another one today. I will give them till Thursday and I will open a PayPal dispute.

i actually have only ever ordered one thing from them and probably won't again. it was their hack n tap sye, but the tap and drill bit that came with it were pretty awful, i wound up getting my own from the hardware store. its basically same yoke that IRO uses...took a while to get it spent all the time carefully cutting and drilling to make sure everything was perfect only to find out the hole they drilled it the yoke wasn't centered and looked like someone had just run a cordless drill through it. was not impressed. it still is working fine though...

The safety switch was already defeated when I bought this mower years ago.

The new ones that have the reverse no mow backwards crack me up.

True, but a lot of the time it's some idiot in management or legal going "but guys we need to add this safety feature".

You can blame the bean counters for cost corner cutting, usually, too.

There are definitely stupid engineers though. They can be found designing things that are impossible to service after they are fully assembled, like fuel filters on top of fuel tanks, CPSes crammed in the least convenient location, and timing drive systems that involve a half dozen tensioners and guides, four chains, a balance shaft, and are on the back of the engine so you literally have to pull the engine to do a timing service.

(Audi, I'm looking at you. )

Here's what I did, post in vendor feedback so that people are aware of the issue. Then have people tell you that even though he missed a date that he provided, it's not really his fault because he did his best, and he's a good guy and works hard. Everyone gets a trophy.

The what does Bell do right list is shorter.

Imagine buying a brand new car. Drive it off the lot. On the way home, the transmission fails.

Now imagine there's no warranty. And the only place you can buy a new transmission from is the dealership you bought the car from.

Or, you can have the transmission rebuilt. Except the only people that have the parts to repair it are the dealership you bought the car from.

Or you could just take the loss and sell the car to someone. Except nobody wants your car because they have to get it fixed by the same people that you have to pay to fix it and they don't want to deal with the hassle.

So you pay for it. And the American economy keeps spinning.
