Important

I just ordered 7/8 heim steering kit from ruff stuff. Always a pleasure to deal with them.

I agree! Even though it took them 4 shipments to finally give me all the parts that were supposed to be included in a kit I ordered, I'd still order from them again.

Parts are pure beef too...

I think it would be neat to have old school looks with modern drive train

Buddy of mine just replaced the Buick 225 Oddfire in a CJ5 with a Vortec V6 driveline... Anyone going to EJS will probably see it displayed...

I decided to stay oldschool and am rebuilding the buick oddfire for the wifes cj5...

That would be so badass! When I totaled my last 5.9 ZJ I almost pulled that driveline and dropped it in a fsj waggy or j20

there's a company making LS swap mounts for FSJs.

the purists hate it, but LSx powered FSJ CHerokee is fawesome.

You should be racing me, in a jeep, at the badlands, sunday...:skull1:

Lolololol, autox is $20. Badlands is $20 plus $100 in gas! Utah trip in less than a month so I'm saving that. Otherwise, I'd love to be in the trail with you guys! :D

You mean fawesome like Jerry's FSJ? I love that thing.

Well might be going to look at a future tow rig tomorrow morning. What's some thoughts on 2wd 1974 ¾ ton GMC as a tow rig? It's got the carbureted 350 in it

An old school tow rig sounds awesome until you do it. I towed my XJ once with a 84 Dodge 3/4 ton crew cab with a warmed over 360 and a 4 speed (which was more like a 3 speed with a granny low). Rode like a log wagon, almost needed earplugs and got 8 mpg. I got a tow rig for a cushy ride home, if I wanted a loud, bouncy truck I'd just drive the Jeep.

With a modern drivetrain it would be better, but still have the crappy old interior.

Anyone here mess with yota axles at all. I came across a set of solid front and rear axles for what I think is cheap. Is the solid front hard to come by? Any clue what they sell for? I might buy them and flip them to make a buck or two.

Does JR live near the south east corner of the state? Most of Indiana is pretty flat, then there happens to be that corner of the state. I remember going to Pekin area and it being crazy hilly. Some roads I wouldn't want to travel on when they are snow/ice covered.

swapping seats and putting sound deadener in an old truck is still a ton cheaper than a truck payment.

For all the times I use the uhaul I just deal with it being old, slow and riding like a uhaul. It was cheap and gets the job done with nearly no money for maintenance.

French Lick/West Baden. You can almost see the hotel from his house.

I agree, which is why I tow with a '00 OBS Chevy with a 350. Not the fastest or smoothest, but leaps and bounds better than the '84 Dodge and it was cheap. The Dodge had way more cool factor though. I have always thought about finding a square body GM 3+3 4x4 to swap a LS/4L80 into, but it would be a never ending project...

Edit: You could also do a junkyard TBI swap on that 350 to eliminate the carb problems.
