Important

Re: Re: Important

Had basement water proofed 2 months ago. The 6" of rain we got last week overwhelmed the catch bassin they installed and I got water in the basement. So I have them come out and look at it and they proceed to try sell me more services and tried telling me water was coming in in a different place than where they fixed.

I reminded them about their lifetime warranty and how the garunteed the fix they did would take care of the problem. They proceeded to try to tell me how tricky water is and sometimes they have to do more work (that I need to pay for). I then let them know that I was a mechanical engineer and that if I need to educate them on hydraulics I would be happy to do so. After a little more heated discussion they have agreed to come take a look and fix the problem.

That's awesome! Get that taken care of.

sounds like they should have done it properly the first time. You would have agreed to pay more on the original job, but f them if they want to half ass it then come back and get paid for the same work twice.

Well might be going to look at a future tow rig tomorrow morning. What's some thoughts on 2wd 1974 ¾ ton GMC as a tow rig? It's got the carbureted 350 in it

Reminds me I still need a driver seat for the 95.
I have a set of late model seats I picked up for the truck. Grey cloth ones. I got $20 in them.

Now to figure out what high steer arm I need... I'm thinking parts mike or artec. What's the longer arms for? I'll be running a FSJ pitman arm too.

how long your arm needs to be is dependent on the kunckles you're running. A longer arm (relative to the arms on the knuckles) at the steering box will turn your knuckles farther, longer arms (relative to the steering arm) at the knuckle will decrease turning angle. Equal lengths at both ends will result in equal movement.

A knuckle is essentially a bellcrank, so if you want to do the math:

Carbed 350 and no over drive would be balls. Not that a 350 would be in over drive much towing anyways.

swap 4.8/5.3 LS drivetrain, enjoy vastly better MPG and rock out.

providing you can get the 74 cheap enough and it's not a rust bucket.

They are asking less than a grand for the truck and it's even the crew cab model. Doesn't look too bad in the pics

take out 2wd silverado drivetrain is less than a grand with the ECM/harness around me.

might be worth it if you'd have two grand in a classic looking but modern powered truck. It's not like you're gonna have to shoehorn an LS where the SBC was in a fool sized GMC.
