Important

Re: Re: Important

I would like to put 456's in our Jeep but it's just not on the cards this year. I know a lot of people don't believe we get the mileage we say we do but it's true. We really do have a "freak of nature" with this Jeep. It just keeps surprising me.

I believe you..I usually get about 16-17 with mine...now if you throw hills and wind in the mix (I drive in the Catskills alot) it goes down to 11-12. People say that wj's are under powered with a 4.0 , but it feels like a racecar compared to my xj

Is BFG A/T KO's a good tire, for some reason that one sticks out in my mind as something people run off road. Tire rack has them for 616 for four (will get fifth for spare).

It's not a bad tire. Good ride and good tread wear if taken care of. Good tire if you do a lot of highway driving

Ideally I want something good off road, good in snow and good in mud. The three instances I will be driving the XJ (other then a car issue with my DD) will be going to badlands, winter during heavy snows or at the dirt track push starting sprint cars. Other then those three, it will get driven a couple miles a week.

You just reminded me that my drivers license expired on my bday. that was 10 days ago....damn.
lucky you're not in Ohio, that would cost you an extra $35 in penalty.

The treadwrights arrived today. Pretty nice looking tire. I just have to take them to get mounted and balanced. 80psi cold though has me a touch worried about how they are gonn aride.

load inflation index, find one.

Hankook ATM RF10.
superior on the road and in the snow. like magical snow and ice performance.
Decent in the mud at the badlands. We did not get stuck.
you will not find a tire that does everything well. pick the two environments you're going to be in the most (road and snow) and accept that they are not a true mud terrain tire. Mud terrain tires suck at everything except mud.

Well just found a used Dana 30 arb locker for dirt cheap. Guy said it was working fine until he broke an axle shaft and it did some damage to the collar with the air tube on it? Would you guys pick it up or just pass on it? It is the rd30 model for 3.73 and up gears.

My 95 had a 3in lift with 33s and stock gears. I was happy

In class. Its tough. We just got so much math thrown at us I got a headache. Everybody else seems to know what he is talking about.

Z=r-jxc. What?

Z=√r2+(xl-xc)2 = √r2+xt2......huh?

RL, RC, RLC =Z

Capacitors, inductors, farads, hertz,

Ahhhhhh!

Pass...if it's the part I think it is

We started with 4" on dry rotted craigslist 31/10.50/15 Bfg A/t's on stock rims and they just barely rubbed the lca's at full turn. Later we got rims with 4.25 backspacing to get full steering without any rub and a new set of the same tires. It settled to 3.5", we also trimmed fenders and got 4.56 gears in preparation for 33's. 31's and 4.56's worked out great especially with the trailer on but was a bit low as a d.d. and 4low was like never used.

Now that it recently got 33's it drives better as a d.d. and the trimmed fenders don't look so empty. It doesn't tow the trailer quite as nice but it still wheels with it just fine and 4low is back in use again. we never check mpg's lol

i dig it. i like the blue power ranger name.

:thumbup:

You'd be damn out of your mind with 4.56's then. ;)
Couldn't agree more. I thought 33s and an ax15/3.55s was just fine, then I 5spd swapped my DD and have 25" rubber on it with the same drivetrain. I love it, can idle up hills in first. Works out to around the same as 4.56s/33s/ax15 iirc. It has me thinking.

That's all a giant mind**** at first but some complex math with phasors and j and omega means no second and third order differential equations to solve means I can be a happy lazy EE :D
Why do you say pass? Got the guy talked down to $85 for the locker

At that price I would buy, you can start buying all the broken ones and combine them into one working. Unless they all break that part.
