Important

If I remember I'll try to measure it tomorrow.

Surprised here was no sticker in the cab.

Still got another 12 hours of work before I get to sleep for an hour and then load up.

Will it power out?

If no, clutch lever stuck or broken internally?

I am having winch problems too. Had to replace two solenoids, bought generic 4 post starter solenoids since I couldn't get Warn specific ones today. Now when I hit the switch it clicks but doesn't do anything. Wrong solenoids I am guessing, winch may be a bumper ornament for WF since I doubt I can find the specific solenoids in 2 days.

I think the solenoids have to be constant duty. A regular ford solenoid wont last. I remember digging through the BWD book at advance searching for them once. Itll say under the description constant duty or not.

If you haven't upgraded your power distribution in your Jeep, you need to. I can't believe the difference I have from the ruddy old corroded crap from '99 and these new cables. Started the Jeep this morning like it was a warm spring day (-12 here).

^ great point ....We just did some trick wiring for my winch and I noticed my power cables for the heep are very inadequate.

No power out, no power in. It will free spool in the right position and lock in place once the clutch is engaged. The solenoids click, and feel/hear the motor trying to run. I pulled the motor apart to see if anything was broken, everything is good on the motor side. I checked the gear side to make sure the clutch lever/sun gear/planets were in working condition and everything is. doesn't seem like anything is binding at all.

sounds like brushes maybe.

I dont know what it is about family members getting sick or family tradegy, but WF sure brings it out for me. 2 years ago the FIL had an episode, today I get a call that my brother is back in the hospital not doing good, it is his pancreas. NOT good. So, as of now I am still planning on making the trip out, but we will see what shapes up over the next 72 hours. I like to drink some cold beers with the best of them, but alcoholism is a sad thing to see someone let take them.

Everything looked good when I pulled the motor cover off. No loose copper

Or not enough power. Battery dead?

Trace the power and ground and make sure everything is connected/not corroded.

I triple checked the positive, ground. Armature, F1 and F2 and the little ground going from the solenoid box to the winch body.

Rev'ed the engine and tried to feed out and feed in, nothing just bogs the engine down.

I called Warn they told me I had to bring it to a service center, the closest service center is over 500 miles away. Haha ya right!

I called 4 wheel parts (where I ordered it from) after I explained the situation and that it was not working fresh out of the box, they decided they would exchange it. But not send me a replacement before they got this bad one back. So no winch for winterfest :( and a sour taste in my mouth after working on this modification all weekend in order to use it at WF

I wouldn't sweat it. At least 4wp is making it right. You don't need a winch at wf.

I know I don't need a winch, I have wheeled years without one. Just wanted to be done with it, haha

Hopefully everything works out.

Andy not sure when you are leaving but if you could a bit early 4WP in Indy could give you the new one then if you already had one mounted putting the new one on would be a breeze......Hell TH can even talk several people to put a hitch on for him. As nice as you are you should have no problem.... :)
