Transmissions and ball joints are failure prone on them.
 
Then that is a no go. I want her to have something that won't have any major issues and she was thinking about another Montana (her last one has the transmission go also). My only other thought is a Yukon with third row seating.

Rear facing car seats fit great in a ZJ.

The plan is if I don't immediately trade it to have the wife drive it for a bit while I do some work on the 5.9...

What are the details on the car...I know it doesn't have a convertible top...

Not sure what I'm doing with the white ZJ yet, but I'd like to eventually trade my way into a paid for 1/2, 3/4 ton last 90s/early 00s pickup

Anything you buy used could have issues. That's just the nature of buying something with miles on it. What is her reason for needing three rows? If she wants an SUV and doesn't need the room why not get her an XJ. If I was getting a Darango with a Magnum motor in it I would go with the 5.9ltr. It'll probably get the same, or better mileage than the 5.2 in the end. I just picked up an 04 Tahoe for $3500. It does have 220k+ miles on it, but it was one owner, and I personally know the PO. If you do go Tahoe/Yukon , and you re looking at the NBS (00-06 first years for 3rd row in the SWB) go 03+ as they are much more refined, and the electrical system is much improved over the older ones. I'd also get the 5.3 or the 6.0 as they actually get the same to better MPGs over the 4.8ltr.
