Important

Always enjoyed third shift. Fewer bosses less BS.

X2 this is also why I work Sunday.
I can't stand 2nd shift. I feel like I'm always either sleeping or waiting to go to work.

Re: Re: Important

I can make that happen

I'll let you know, I'm going to ask again. Last response I got was "Jed says we'll try it when it warms up a little been like 10 - 20 below here since we got home." And haven't heard anything since.
Its been 2 months since I left, I bet the battery is dead too.
If I need you to go do it I can Paypal or mail you some money. Its a bit of a drive from mason to Chapin.

Worth quoting again.

Plus we get a nice shift differential.

So, am I a bad parent that I'm not concerned that a car seat we have expires next month?

My wife seems to think that I'm an awful parent for not wanting to spend the money on another seat that she's going to use til Oct when we can buy ANOTHER car seat that faces forward.

I work a hybrid 2nd/3rd shift; 5p-3a. I like it because we usually start off busy, but the brass is already gone for the day. Because I get off at 3a, I don't spend all day sleeping.

IMO, that is the same thing lots of parents would do. I never did see the point of spending the money on something to get rid of it a couple months down the road. That's the exact same thing that I did with my son and his car seats.

you did what? ran with the expired seat til it was time to go to a forward seat? I think its just a ploy to get people to buy more car seats?

You can't tell me in 5 years that the car seat is a complete pos.

Buddy of mine just had their 4th kid. The hospital forced them to buy a new carseat and cut the straps on the old one because it was 'expired' before they were allowed to leave.

I think it's BS. Plastic and nylon do not suddenly fall apart. Seat belts from 80s cars still work,a carseat belt from 2008 should too.

Yes they have an expiration date on them.

So far in my quick research its recommend to replace them because of better materials in them and better latches. But since 2002 the changes haven't been many that I can find. It appears that the expiration date is a good time to inspect the seat and the base and if there's no wear or cracks you are good. Its when the seat and base wears down and/or cracks that there's issues.

Just wondering what other folks did?

I never replaced the expired car seats with another one to only be used for a couple months till he out grew it. Best off to just save that money and put it towards a new front facing car seat. Thats what i did atleast.

The hospital gave us one when she was born. She out grew it and her sister gave us a bigger one, it just happens to expire in Feb. When she turns two in Oct we can go to a forward facing one that hopefully we can use for any others (nothing coming anytime soon).

Next thing, they will be telling us that our 16 year old Jeep is not safe to transport a child in.

Oh, reminds me of the looks we get when we have her in the Jeep with the top off going down the road...in the summer of course, not the winter lol.

FWIW I have 2 kids still in booster seats. One will be in a booster for another year, the youngest will be in one for 2 more years. I am not going to replace the boosters between now and then.

My vehicles didn't have any of that fancy LATCH stuff, so it was kind of irrelevant how high-speed the car seat was.

I have a pic somewhere of Caitlyn in the back of my TJ when she was 2, top down doors off. She was loving it.

If they made Busch Light cases LATCH-compatible, I would consider buying a newer car.

Mac, do they not have seats that can be flipped around when the child reaches front facing age?

They do.

HOWEVER, those seats don't convert to a booster seat. I want a forward facing seat that converts to a booster seat, to kill the rest of the birds with one stone.
