I kinda weld. If I had one at home I would do WAY more though.

Gotta start somewhere. And $200 isn't bad for everything.

i started "welding" on a 110, its done 1/4 just fine. but ive never been confident. after last semester i went home over break. my father wanted a simple hitch made so that he could pull his ice shanty with his sled but was stumped. 10 minutes of, "hmmmm," and, "hawwwww"ing, 5 minutes of measuring, and i welded up something bolt on and low profile for him. pretty slick how it turned out really. but i was SUPER happy with how my welds turned out, even though it was flux core (ive been spoiled with gas at school).

knowing what to look for, and why your welds are doing what they are doing is the most important thing. what really helped me was going back to the basics... oxyfuel welding. it helps build an understanding the heat penetration, the HAZ, the differences in flame types (carburizing, neutral, oxidizing). and isnt as bright or hot (only about 6k, rather than 12k), so you get a better look at how your manipulating the pool. then you can start playing with other forms... the difference in AC vs DC, different shielding methods, etc.

i picked up "TIG welding for dummies"... ive never had such a little book piss me off. jesus there is so much to know and remember. then comes the hard part, applying it. lol.

Oh ok. They did a segment on him on the DVD or during the race last year.

on a sort of related note, our financing is official for the house. now we just need about $3k more to close (feb 15th) good think i have 3k in checks coming in before monday that should cover everything we need.

Make sure before you take her to the hospital that she takes a shower and drinks some water.

Best advice we ever got. Once you get there, no more drinks and right to the bed.

that is good advice, but we were also told to check with the hospital we are delivering at. they are actually a little more loose with their regulations than other places. they let you have a water bottle and popsicles...they also don't make you lay down until you are in stage 3 labor. obviously all of this goes out the window if the dr feels there is any danger to the baby. you just have to check in on the monitors once an hour, but other than that we are allowed to walk around...15 minutes on monitor, 45 minutes off.

that being said, she is still going to chug some water and shower before we go just in case the dr decides they need to take any unforeseen course of action or they decide that she needs an epidural. once you take the epidural you are immediately put in bed and attached to monitors

for my wife this was the hardest part. last 2ish weeks she got huge and had a hard time doing anything.

we were walking around the mall on her labor day.

moms know they are moms right away. dads (imo) need some form of trigger. i knew i had turned into a dad when i was holding her and she had a booger, so i dug up in there and got it out, wiped it on my pants. immediately after, she spit up on my shirt and i reached in my pocket to grab the tissue that already had spit up on it to wipe her clean.

at some point i changed my shirt. but it usually takes more than one spit up for me to change.

yep, im a dad now

a lot can change once you are in there. my wife's body was not cooperating with the baby's plans and vice-versa. for her, what was a no issues pregnancy, turned into a mandatory c-section.
