Important

Pretty sure the drums on my truck are worn out or just don't work.
The linkage for that stupid load proportioning valve is all ****ed up too.

When I rotate my tires I knock the drums off and clean everything up. I hate messing with all those springs and hooks. I'm sure it's probably easier with drum brake tools but I don't have any of that crap. Pliers and a hammer. Those are my drum tools haha

My drum tools...

Drums do suck but they do the job. I was asked by a member when I did my 9" swap why I did not put disks on it. Well 500 towards a locker was much better idea than disks.....

Ram: "next love the 9" gets is disk brakes" Rod

Got my hackntap in from IRO today! now to get it on and get the BB on to bring me up a little bit.

anyone have the jig they sell for drilling?

Old drum brakes always open many cans of big ugly worms.

I just assume as long as I'm getting shoes and drums, I might as well get all new hardware... springs, adjusters, everything. It's just less frustrating especially when half the drum setups I've take off have both secondary shoes on one side or parts missing or something else stupid like that.

I used to be the same way, oh screw it I'll just use needle nose and a screwdriver. For some reason I was making a Quadratec order though and saw these and bought them: http://www.quadratec.com/products/92810_001.htm

$7... if you run across a set at a parts store, buy them and give it a shot. It is unreal how much easier it is to remove install the return springs, especially without hurting oneself. It almost takes the frustration out of doing drums.

So a ****bag w a BB gun just shut down the college that is about 500yrds from our building so we were on lockdown too( of coarse no one knew it was a BB gun)

Apparently it was a theater prop for some reason. At least this time a "gun" was found unlike the previous four times someone yelled gun on campus.

I have the jig

What is your rental fee? I have the IRO h&t on a shelf and its gotta get done sometime before winterfest..

I played with a cutoff wheel or two today, no longer have rear flares and am rolling on 33x9.5 bfgs now. My list of stuff I need done before march is getting smaller every day. This was it after I was done and pulling the tape off around where I painted the cut n folded fenders..

Drum brakes suck, but suck less with the proper tools. I have shot springs across the shop trying to get them in place with a screwdriver and pliers :D

I always buy the hardware kit when I do drum brakes for the above reason, that and it is so cheap why not start with new stuff?

It's about to get messy here. Might get to sleep in tomorrow!
