What would make my transmission not stay in overdrive? Or maybe it is the torque converter unlocking. It does not do it all the time, and sometimes I can turn the jeep off and turn it back on and it will act just fine.

Sounds like you need to double flex's offer on my transmission. :laugh3:

:roflmao: Hey, I need backup if the transfer case clocking goes wrong! :laugh3:

If you already have a t'case skid, I don't see the point in clocking the t'case, unless you are going to fab a flat belly skid.

Ok dumb question here, will it hurt my welder if I leave it in the shed over winter? Didn't know if it would hurt it getting cold or not. its sat in a heated garage every winter since I got but this will be the first winter it will be at my house.

Given the forecast, I guess I better spend some time in the shop tonight getting the front bumper put on the XJ. Doubt we will actually get the 3-5" though.

I was wondering the same thing. Seems like a waste of time for a 242 or 231. You guys may want to think about your shift linkage also. The stock transfer case linkage is a mess. ( that is the nice way to describe it) I had to go to a cable shifter after moving my transfer case up by about a 1/2 " when using the Clayton cross member. I can only see clocking if you were going to go to a dana 300 or and Atlas...

Getting cold won't hurt it, but moisture will. Talk Trixie into letting you keep it in the living room.

my 98 did this for a while....i changed the fluid and filter and it was fine after that...then it did it again for a while. then i changed the tps...hasn't done it since

i'm actually not convinced that either actually fixed it and that it wasn't just some weird random issue that comes and goes. what does your fluid look like?

waiting...waiting...waiting

should have an answer on the house today. hopefully they accept our offer and we can start to actually plan what we are doing

I think altrocker is on to something with the tps. I keep forgetting that the 5.9 does an odd thing when driving at speed with the cruise set. It bounces around similar but not as much as a gear change but maybe the torque converter unlocking and locking. It has been doing it for a while and the tranny was rebuilt. The trans shop said that the tranny is fine and suggested changing the tps...which I haven't done yet, but am going to soon.
