Flex I heard the underwater welded do a lot of painting in the down time...

However congrats because that's a very skilled navy job.

Since we are on the subject...

Parent have an 09 edge awd w/47k w/20s yo, that the dealer says needs new rear shocks because one is leaking...not covered under ext warranty...

Quote was $350

Where are my ford boys? Anyone done them? Is it manageable by a shade tree such as myself?

I have two VW bugs in the shop right as I type... One needs a trans filter and flush, of course I don't have the machine... The other has a new battery, but the alt isn't putting out what it should and if it sits for two days, the battery goes dead. But, the parasitic draw test is well below the spec...

there is a couple interior trim panels you have to pull. once they are out of the way it looks no different than a typical shock to me

looks like our list price here is 81.63ea

You had coil overs on a XJ. I bet you can manage a shock replacement ;)

Thanks!

My concern was strut or compressing a spring on the IRS...

Good pic Sam! Thanks (more sincere than the one to Durbin :) )I'm going to check amazon for pricing after my nap...

Most of the profit from vehicles comes from spare parts... not from the original sale.

JJ, found another XJ for sale locally, don't know much about it other then it looks good outside and in.

I don't know how good it runs or anything.

id believe it....

the disposable car ruined the american auto industry.

put a 90's toyota/honda etc next to a comparable car of the same year from an "american" company. they just work and keep working with proper regular maintenance

Compare the 'proper regular maintenance' list for a 90's toyota and 90's Ford.

The real reason Toyota's with maintenance last so long is because of the amount of regular maintenance they get.

Our new car has a 100k power train warranty....timing belt will last at least that long or they are fixing it.

05 vue had150k on it when we traded it, had a Honda engine.

So does apparently every other used Vue out there. And none of them have accurate records showing whether they had the 100k mile service that includes the timing belt. Which is an $800 shop bill by itself. Hence the reason the wife bought an Aztek, with a GM engine.

Clean xj's are going for 5k+ here, with 150k miles.

In other news..... My son is home from Canada, haven't seen him in a year. He brought his gf (french Canadian), I like her. Couldn't live w her tho. Lol.

My daughter, cam and Addy will be her within a few hours, and my oldest daughter in the am. Tomorrow will be the highlight of my year.

Ok quick question. When you take a vehicle into the dealer, can they pull more codes than what I can at home with a code reader?
