Did you know that it takes twice as long to stop from 35 mph than it does from 25 mph?

That's why school zones and residential areas are 25 mph.

Maybe you should try slowing down and being a little safer instead of being excited that you dodged a citation. 15 over around here will get you a court date. On base, it will get you 90 days suspended.

This wasn't a residential area and if I went the speed limit of 30mph, people would be on my tail. There is about four houses on the stretch I was at. After the lake, there is maybe 20 in a mile, but most are off hte road. I do always look for people pulling out and prepare. This road used ot be 40mph speed limit. I don't normally do 45 down this road, but do around 37-40.

Never did not admit, I was actually going pretty normal for the people that travel down this road.

For the record, in most places, I am only five over most of hte time. Some roads I do 10 but only a few.

I've had a few fast cars, still have one tucked away, so far the jeep has been a whole lot cheaper. Tickets and insurance add up! My insurance ostensibly cheaper then my wifes and i plan to keep it that way.

thats respectable...i got my first speeding ticket the other day :( 17 years of driving with one speeding ticket is pretty good. i knew i was screwed right away, and quite honestly it was stupid of me. i was in a construction zone with no work going on coming back on a 7 hour trip. i was rolling down a hill at 67...the construction zone limit was 55. i had actually noticed how fast i was going right before i saw the officer and was literally lifting my foot off the gas when he got me. i pulled over immediately and was super cooperative and respectful. he gave me a ticket, and i deserved it...i had no arguments. he did knock it down a bit, and put me on a different type of offense that is "failure to slow down" and not "speeding in a construction zone" and he said the penalty was a lot less. it was weird though, the ticket just said i had to submit it an ddidn't have a dollar amount. i'm sending it in with a guilty plea, so im not sure what the fine will be after that. im sure it won't be cheap...

i felt like a jackass

This. I'll stop you at 11 over, respect will get you a warning. 15 over gets paper every time. BTW turning on your 'felony flashers' raises a red flag to some officers.

That is interesting, I was told by some that turning them on is a sign that you know they are behind you and a sign of respect. I haven't been pulled over at night, but one of the first things I would do is turn on my interior lights also.

Finally got around to putting the xflex arms I bought 3 winterfests ago. Had a clunk in the right front. I knew the axle end was fubared but turns out the vehicle end had come loose from the bushing.
Got one of them done tonight.

hmm...momma might be convinced that having a stock xj as a baby mobile would be just fine with her. only requirements would be working a/c, heated zj or wj seat upgrade, and clean interior...she really wants a liberty, but said she would be fine with an xj for a while

thoughts?

for me it means i could afford to buy one with a decent body and interior and spend the next 4 months cleaning it up and making sure everything was mechanically sound...and still probably spend less than i would on a liberty...i had her talked into a 5.9 before the whole baby thing came up. that was before she had to drive it every day. she learned to drive in an xj, so she is very comfortable in them.

We looked at the libby. Getting the first backwards baby seat in correctly SUCKED!!!! There wasn't enough room to move the front seats back to a comfortable spot without hitting the baby bucket.

I got pulled over about a year ago at 3am on my way home from a 12hrs shift. it was super foggy and i was taking a slower less traveled route. the cop pulled me over because i was driving too cautiously. he walked up to my jeep, lit the back with his flash light, saw camouflage and a bow case, lit up the backseat and saw a gun case, then when he got to the front door i was wearing boxers and a dirty t shirt. he was so confused he wasn't able to get words out. after about two min of him saying um I explained that i had spilt diesel fuel on my pants at work and didn't want to stink up my hunting stuff. he ran all my info and made me do field sobriety tests then had a laugh and sent me on my way. I occasionally see him after work and if my windows are down he will politely roll up and ask if i am wearing pants.

I don't have time to get bearings ordered, still need to do a couple things to the Jeep and get the stuff ready to pack. We have to deliver a bumper to Moab so I gotta wait til we get that in first.
